2027: APC Blasts ‘Fake PDP Faction’ in Abia, Warns Otti Against ‘Politically Irrelevant’ Alliance
“A fresh political storm is brewing in Abia State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) launches a blistering attack on what it describes as a “fake faction” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a strongly worded statement, the party not only dismissed the group as politically irrelevant but also issued a pointed warning to Governor Alex Otti, signaling intensifying power tussles ahead of the 2027 elections.”
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has rejected a purported PDP faction, describing it as illegitimate and politically irrelevant, while warning Governor Alex Otti against aligning with the group ahead of the 2027 elections.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has reacted strongly to a recent press conference addressed by individuals “parading themselves as a faction” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing the group as illegitimate and politically inconsequential.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC maintained that the only PDP structure recognized by law and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State is the leadership headed by Abraham Amah.
The party noted that it would ordinarily “not dignify such a faceless group with a response,” but said it became necessary to intervene to prevent the public from being misled by what it described as “politically homeless and frustrated elements lacking relevance, recognition, and any credible grassroots base.”
According to the APC, recent court decisions have effectively rendered the group “politically inconsequential,” affirming what it called the authentic PDP leadership aligned with the Wike-led bloc.
The statement further alleged that the individuals behind the press conference are “transactional politicians” seeking to “mortgage what remains of the PDP in Abia State for personal gain,” particularly in an attempt to gain favor with Governor Alex Otti.
“It is evident that their scheme has been decisively thwarted by the courts, thereby nullifying their claims and exposing their lack of legitimacy,” the statement added.
The APC described it as “ironic and laughable” that the group would attempt to offer political guidance to Abians, insisting that residents of the state have continued to show “overwhelming acceptance, trust, and growing support” for the APC, largely credited to the leadership of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The party also questioned the track records of the individuals involved, accusing them of a “consistent pattern of failure” and alleging that their past roles in public office yielded no meaningful legacy.
“Abians need no reminder that it was their greed, ineptitude, and selfishness that led to the collapse and disintegration of the PDP in the state,” the statement said.
The APC further cautioned Governor Otti, stating that he risks aligning with “political has-beens and irrelevancies whose mission is fundamentally flawed and destined for failure.”
Reaffirming its position, the APC declared that it remains “strong, widely accepted, and deeply trusted” across Abia State, expressing confidence that support for the party will continue to grow ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party also accused the group of having a “well-documented history of political sabotage,” alleging betrayal of the PDP and prioritization of personal financial gain over party loyalty and integrity.
“Such characters cannot and should not be taken seriously by any discerning member of the public,” the statement concluded.
The APC reiterated its commitment to delivering a people-focused government, promising transparency, accountability, improved infrastructure, accessible education, efficient transportation, and sustainable development across all sectors in Abia State.
