YULETIDE: LP’s Aguocha Hosts Over Four Thousand Structure Supporters In His Ohuhu Home
… Pledges To Complete Umuokpara Ring Road

It was a joyous occasion with intense jubilation on December 30, 2022, as the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency of Abia State, High Chief Obi Aguocha hosted over four thousand members of political structure to a grand Christmas feast for his teeming followers, in appreciation of their unalloyed support for him and the entire candidates of the party.

Addressing the mammoth crowd drawn from across the Constituency at his country home, Umuohuru, Nkwoegwu, in Umuahia North LGA, Chief Aguocha expressed his profound gratitude to the people for their unreserved confidence in him, as well as support geared towards his victorious emergence in the upcoming, March 2023 general election.

He described Umuahia as a glorified village and unbefitting of a State capital, noting also the sorry state of Umuahia despite producing dignitaries in different capacities both at the federal and state level.

The prominent son of Umuahia North and former President-general of Ohuhu Development Union, decried the dilapidated state of roads in Umuahia South with focus on Umuokpara ring road, as well as Ogbodi N’ebe road.

Other deplorable roads he outlined were the Eziama Ubakala road and Agbama road, all in Umuahia South respectively, and he reiterated his unflinching commitment to rehabilitating the various dilapidated roads in the area when he emerges at the Green Chamber.

Also of great concern to me is the plight of the people of Agbama who are really suffering. I have visited them and feel their pains and pledge to ensure adequate inclusion in the national budget to cater for all these deficiencies in our community.

Speaking further, he maintained that the principle of equity, fairness and justice must be upheld in the State, stressing that; “What we are striving to achieve is to end the dehumanization of the people of Ohuhu. In Ohuhu, we’re striving to ensure that our name is not wiped out from the surface of the earth”, he said.

Moreso, he appealed to the people to support the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, whom he stressed would leave no stone unturned in restoring the lost dignity of Umuahia and at the same time, ensure an equal distribution
of dividends of democracy among various zones across the State.

“Voting Dr. Alex Otti will be of great benefit to us. Dr. Alex Otti as Governor will lay emphasis on Umuahia. Then, for my people of Urban, when you elect me as your Legislator at the Federal House of Representatives, I will ensure that what is due to the people of Ibeku and Ohuhu is also due to non Ibeku/Ohuhu indigenes who constitute a greater portion human and structural development of Urban…whom for the first time shall become Chairman of Umuahia North LGA. This has become imperative as there are many who have worked assiduously towards the growth of Umuahia but are sidelined during the distribution of political benefits. All I want is equity, justice, and fairness for all, which is what we are fighting for.”

Meanwhile, he used the medium to commend his supporters from Ibeku clan who according to him have stood out despite all odds to ensure that equity, fairness and justice is enthroned, as he pledged to ever remain of good conduct, a trait which I have always been known for especially in wiping away tears from our people.

“Were you harassed by anyone at my gate or was there any form of intimidation while coming in or to enter my parlor? Everyone is free to enter my home without hindrance. I want to also promise you that I will remain the same accessible man you have always known up until the end.”

On the pathetic state of Ikwuano LGA, Aguocha who wailed that the Council had over the years been enslaved by her Umuahia counterparts, promised that his emergence as the next Federal Legislator would bring about a new dawn in the lives of the people.

“I want to liberate the people of Ikwuano from slavery. Ikwuano was once a Local Government which was subsequently divided into three with Umuahia taking over two while Ikwuano has just one. That same local government has five state Constituencies, Umuahia has four while they have just one. That same local government has 32 Wards, while Umuahia have twenty-two (22) and they have just ten (10). In Commissioner appointments, Umuahia has five whereas Ikwuano has just one. In terms of projects, everything is reserved for Umuahia and absolutely nothing for Ikwuano which ought not to be so”, he maintained.

Earlier, Aguocha observed two minute’s silence in honour of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, as he prayed God to grant the latter unconditional freedom while also beckoning on the Federal Government of Nigeria to heed the various court’s verdict, which ordered for Kanu’s immediate release.

On the unlawful detention of the leader of IPOB, the illustrious son of Igboland urged the federal government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari to adhere to the Court’s injunction which discharged and acquitted Kanu unconditionally.
