YULETIDE: Draw lessons from Christ’s humility, DSS charges Christians on Easter
The Department of State Services (DSS) has felicitated with the Christian faithful on the celebration of Easter while calling on Nigerians to draw lessons from the forbearance and humility of Jesus Christ as well as apply same in their daily affairs.
The Service made the call and the wishes in a statement signed by Director, PR & Strategic Communications, Mr. Peter Afunanya, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) on Saturday.
The statement further reminded the Christian faithful of the need to use the event of the death and resurrection of Christ, which illustrate sacrifice and forgiveness to refocus their love for one another, the nation and humanity at large.
“On this note, citizens are encouraged to adopt self-control, discipline and compassion in their dealings and conducts. The Service enjoins them to eschew bitterness, disloyalty, fake news, hate speech and violence,” the statement cautioned.
While wishing the celebrating public a peaceful outing, the Service also advised everyone to restrain from such behaviors as illicit drugs, excessive alcoholism as well as reject all forms of bigotry and other social vices during the ceremony.
“They are, therefore, implored to renew their commitment to the peace, unity of Nigeria and work towards her inclusiveness.
“Consequent upon these, everyone is urged to be vigilant and report attempts to breach security to relevant law enforcement agencies.
