YULETIDE: Army Goc 81 Division Felicitates With Top Security Agencies Commanders, Troops’ Families

 

 

 

 

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Ajunwa hosted the 81 Division Christmas Carol of the Nine Lessons to felicitate with top security agencies commanders, corporate individuals, and troops’ families as part of activities to celebrate the yuletide season.

 

The Carol which was held at the Hippo House at Ikoyi has in attendance the Former Nigerian Ambassador to Brazil Ambassador Christopher Okeke, Chairperson NAOWA 81 Division Chapter Dr (Mr) Ada Ajunwa Corps Commander Nigerian Army Supply and Transport Major General Erema Akeredola, Deputy Commandant Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Major General Parker Undiandeye, the Managing Director Zenith Bank PLC Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu and the Chief Security Officer of Globalcom Limited Major Nobert Okoro (rtd). Others are the representative of the Naval Doctrine Command, Representatives of the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2, the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and Commanders and Principal Staff Officers of the Division among several other dignitaries and families of troops.

 

The GOC, who read the eighth lesson from Mathew Chapter 2: 1-12 espoused on how the wise men were led by the star to the saviour. In his Christmas Goodwill message, the GOC admonished Christians to uphold the tenets of good neighborliness while making individual sacrifices that exemplified God. He said this is the period to show love and remember those who have the interest of the nation at heart. According to the GOC, most of the troops are on the battlefield while their wives are left behind to take care of the home front. General Ajunwa disclosed that this has necessitated spending some time with the families of his troops to appreciate their efforts while their respective husbands are fighting to ensure peace in the country at the battlefront

On his part, Reverend Father F Yateghteg while delivering the Christmas Message admonished Christians to contribute their quota to make their environment a better place.

 

“Christ came so that our society can be better. In a similar vein, we can make our society and environment better than we met it. Christmas is about love and sharing what you have; identifying with one another and being truthful with one another h noted. He also reiterated the need to show the enemy; forgiveness, friends/ comrades; confidence, opponents; tolerance, customers; good service, spouse; fidelity, self; respect, and to all give; love.

 

During the Carol, several songs were taken by the combined mass choir of 81 Division Chaplain Services and members of the Women Fellowship. The songs included the first Noel, Once in Royal David’s City, Away in a Manger, and Silent Night. Other songs are See amid the Winter, Little Town of Bethlehem, While Shepherd watched their flocks by night, Unto us a child is born, and Joy to the world.

The Carol dovetailed into the thanksgiving and subsequently by prayers and benediction taken by Lieutenant Colonel Venerable A Amuluche before the Halleluyah chorus by the mass choir which led to the recessional carol.
