The permanent secretary ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mr Okpe Arum Okpe has commended His Imperial Majesty Sir Mishak Nnanta KJW, KSM, JP (gburugburu ndigbo dum) for deeming it fit to partner with the Ministry in taking the rich Igbo cultural heritage to an enviable height.
He made the commendation when his Imperial Majesty Sir Mishak Nnanta and his cabinet paid him a courtesy visit in his office. The permanent secretary described sir Nnanta as a man who loves and cherishes Igbo culture with passion, he pledged the ministries readiness to work in synergy with his Imperial Majesty and others who has the zeal to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of ndi Igbo, and prayed that our new governor Dr Alex Chioma Otti will appoint the likes of his Imperial Majesty sir. Mishak Nnanta to take the tourism and culture sector to a greater height. Speaking earlier, His imperial Majesty Sir Mishak Nnanta KJW, KSM, JP (gburugburu ndigbo dum) said they came to familiarize with the ministry to chart a course that will further develop and enhance the promotion and preservation of Igbo culture which includes :
Dressing, Tradition, Language among others. Sir Nnanta describe Igbo’s as Golden fish that has no hiding place, and stressed on the need for Igbo’s both at home and in diaspora to see the need for our culture not to go into extinction, saying that himself and his team has done so much in these sector which include: the establishment of Igbo study centers in various countries of the world.
In a remark the Director of culture Mrs, Folakemi Okezie thanked Onyeze and his team for coming and reemphasized the need for culture and Tourism Sector to be properly harnessed to increase the revenue of the state,she encouraged Onyeze not to relent in bringing his wealth of experience to bear in culture and Tourism Sector.Present at the meeting were the Directors of the Ministry.
