We’ll leave no stone unturned in restructuring Abia, Otti assures
By Charity Uwakwe, Abia
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has reiterated that his administration would not relent in its bid to restore sanity to the State, thereby making it the number one state, hence God’s own State.
Governor Otti stressed that the ongoing exercises and activities by the Labour Party (LP) government, is geared strictly, towards restoring to the State all of its lost property which, according to him have over the years, been in the hands of a few individuals in the State.
It is no longer news that Otti’s led government has in recent times, constituted a of a panel of enquiry on the recovery of property and funds belonging to the Abia state government, even as various changes are evidently made in the State Civil service.
The renowned world’s First Class Economist who urged Abians to support major decisions of his administration, explained that they were geared towards laying the right foundation in rebuilding and repositioning the state.
Otti who stated this at the Victory Thanksgiving service reception ceremony of the Deputy Speaker, Abia House of Assembly and member representing Umuahia East state constituency, Rt Hon. Austine Nmeregini, held at Community Primary School, Umuana Ndume.
According to him, the various changes as have been made by his administration in the state civil service and the subsequent constitution of a panel of enquiry on the recovery of property and funds belonging to the state government are part of his rebuilding agenda for the state.
Hear him: “It is now over a month since we took over the governance of Abia State and we have been doing is to set the building blocks because if you do not set your foundation right, whatever you’re building may not stand, even if it does, it will not stand for a long time. So when you hear that we are dissolving members of some boards, setting up of panels of inquiry, we just want to reset the state.
“We have assured and promised you that’s we are coming to rebuild. Make no mistake about it, rebuilding is difficult but we are prepared so no one should loose sleep because we know where we are going.
“It is also not uncommon for you to be hearing people wailing and crying and that is expected because for the past 24 years some people had put their mouths on the feeding bottle and since we came, we have removed their mouths.
“There may be a few people whose mouths we have not seen and that’s is why we have the panel. We fish out those people and remove their mouths from the feeding bottle. Why do I say so, the feeding bottle is for all of us, so anytime that happens, you will hear them screaming; the man is undemocratic, the man wants to spoil the state.
“We have not come to spoil, we have come to rebuild. So, if the rebuilding process tastes like spoiling to them, we can understand but we cannot sympathize with them.
“Like I said, alot of government properties is in the hands of individuals and we must retrieve them and return them to the original owners”,Otti vowed.
The Governor assured that the state House of Assembly will in the coming days approve the list of commissioner nominees sent to it to enable his government take off fully.
He congratulated the celebrant and member representing Umuahia East state Constituency, Rt Hon Austine Nmeregini on his emergence as deputy speaker, while also commending him for the show of appreciation God for His mercy.
Earlier in his speech, the Celebrant and Deputy Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Hon Austine Nmeregini, thanked his constituents for their overwhelming support and urged them to continue to give their full support to government of the day.
The Deputy Speaker assured his constituents that he would justify the confidence reposed in thus efficiently discharging his responsibilities.
Also, he restated his unreserved support for the government of Otti to enable him fulfil his promises to the State.
The event attracted among other dignitaries, the presence of the wife of the Governor Lady Priscilia Otti, the Speaker Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, his Isialangwa North /South counterpart, Rt. Hon. Ginger Onwusibe
