I’m exhausted just watching this!
Players from both sides are dropping like flies.
This exhilarating final is taking a toll on those who have provided the entertainment. Cramp is taking over.
Post update
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Liverpool are like the walking wounded.
After Cisse, Gerrard, Finnan and Carragher, Mohamed Sissoko is now struggling with cramp.
KICK-OFF
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Djibril Cisse, who has already changed his boots in this game, is now sporting a bandage on his thigh.
We’re back under way.
Heading for penalties?
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender at the Millennium Stadium
It’s very difficult for either manager to influence the game at this stage. It’s been such a rollercoaster that we shouldn’t be surprised that the game has died a little bit. I think it’s going to be settled by penalties.
HALF-TIME
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Fifteen minutes left of this crazy* game.
*Gnarls Barkley was No 1 in the UK singles chart with ‘Crazy’ when this final was taking place. Hmmmm
CLOSE!
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Who knew Sami Hyypia could do that?
The Liverpool defender is up for a free-kick and gets possession just outside the West Ham penalty area. He’s surrounded by white shirts but takes out two with a clever turn before firing narrowly wide from 20 yards.

This is the best FA Cup final I have ever witnessed.

Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
It’s all Liverpool during this period. Fernando Morientes can’t make a clean connection when presented with a headed chance but the ball falls for Djibril Cisse who also fails to take advantage. There’s some tired legs out there and it’s beginning to show.
CLOSE!
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Corner to Liverpool and it’s man-of-the-moment Steven Gerrard who is going to take it. It’s headed clear by Teddy Sheringham but falls invitingly for John Arne Riise, 35 yards out, to hammer it towards the net. Decent effort.

Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Jamie Carragher, one of the fittest players in the Liverpool side, is down with camp.
This has been energy-sapping.

Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
You have to feel for West Ham. They were minutes away from winning the FA Cup. This game has been played at a phenomenal pace. Do they have the legs to take the lead again?
KICK-OFF
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
A reminder as we start extra-time that both teams have used all their subs.
‘Gerrard doesn’t know when he’s beaten’
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Alan Hansen
Former Scotland and Liverpool defender
This is one of the greatest games I have ever seen. West Ham came as massive underdogs and should have won but there’s a guy who plays in red called Gerrard who just does not know when he is beaten. He has dragged Liverpool from the depths.

Gary Lineker
Ex-England striker
We were going to have a Goal of the Season competition later. I think we’ll scrap it after that Steven Gerrard effort.
FULL-TIME
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Ninety down, 30 more minutes to go.
Regardless of the ultimate outcome here, this has been an absolute belter.

West Ham should be down and out after that, right? Wrong!
Sami Hyypia concedes a free-kick within scoring range and Paul Konchesky fancies another goal.
Up steps the defender…Pepe Reina is down to gather.

It’s John Arne Riise’s reaction that goes a long way to summing up Steven Gerrard’s remarkable goal. He puts one hand on the back on his captain’s head and looks at him in astonishment. Riise was renowned for scoring from distance but even the Norwegian cannot believe what he has just witnessed.
‘Just hit it’
Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender at the Millennium Stadium
When the ball came to Steven Gerrard I think he thought ‘I’m just going to hit this’ because he can’t run with it. What a goal.
GOAL – Liverpool 3-3 West Ham
Steven Gerrard

Video caption: Liverpool v West Ham 2006: Stunning Steven Gerrard equaliser in injury time I feel I have to detach myself from this ‘I’m in 2006’ ruse to describe this. It is too big a moment in FA Cup history, too iconic.
Play has been stopped to allow Djibril Cisse to receive treatment for cramp and Liverpool have a throw-in which is deliberately played to a West Ham player to hack clear.
It’s not a good clearance and Steven Gerrard intercepts it midway inside West Ham’s half. He plays a short pass to John Arne Riise who lumps it forward towards Fernando Morientes.
It is headed clear but it falls to Gerrard, 35 yards out, who thumps it first time into the bottom corner. It’s a goal that will be talked about for years.
Gerrard has saved Liverpool once again.

FOUR ADDED MINUTES.
The television cameras cut to Hammers fans. One is frantically waving a West Ham flag in one hand and speaking into his mobile phone with the other. Meanwhile, a young fan whose face is painted claret and blue dare not look.

Fantastic job. I truly enjoyed what you had to say, and much more than that, how you presented it. Too cool! 203191
