Flagship Event Brings Advocates, Caregivers and Women Together

As part of the campaign, the bank hosted a flagship engagement at The Stable, its multipurpose event venue in Surulere, Lagos.

The gathering brought together women living with disabilities, caregivers, advocacy organisations, and inclusion champions for dialogue, mentorship, and resource sharing.

The event created a platform for participants to exchange experiences, build networks, and explore practical pathways to empowerment.
Education, Mentorship and Economic Empowerment

Beyond the event, the initiative includes outreach programmes targeting disability support facilities and educational institutions, where learning materials will be distributed to female students with disabilities.

The bank will also roll out specialised mentorship programmes aimed at building confidence and capabilities in education, entrepreneurship, and career development.

Through its women-focused banking proposition alpher, Union Bank will deliver business sustainability training programmes tailored specifically for women with disabilities and mothers raising children with disabilities.

Internal Advocacy Through WeHub
Internally, the bank will activate WeHub, its employee-led women’s network, to strengthen an inclusive workplace culture and support the professional growth of women across the organisation.

These initiatives reflect the bank’s broader commitment to equity and social inclusion, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Gender Equality and Reduced Inequalities.

Union Bank: Inclusion Is a Deliberate Choice
Speaking on the initiative, Olufunmilola Aluko, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer of Union Bank, emphasised the importance of intentionally supporting women who are often excluded from empowerment conversations.

“At Union Bank, inclusion is not an abstract ideal; it is a deliberate choice. While many conversations around women’s empowerment are important and necessary, women living with disabilities and women raising children with disabilities are too often left out entirely.”

She added:

“This year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain,’ reflects exactly what we believe — that when we intentionally open access, support, and opportunity to these women, the value created extends to families, communities, and society at large.”

Commitment Beyond Words

Union Bank says its International Women’s Month 2026 campaign represents more than a symbolic gesture.

Instead, it is a clear commitment to ensure that inclusion goes beyond conversation — creating lasting opportunities for those who have waited the longest for a seat at the table.
