Umuahia North Elders Endorse Chinedum Orji for 2027 Reps Seat, Reject Micro-Zoning Debate
” The Umuahia North Elders Forum has endorsed Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections. The group cited his leadership experience, track record in public service, and capacity to attract development projects, while also rejecting calls for micro-zoning within the constituency.”
“As political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum in Abia State, a major endorsement has emerged from the Umuahia North Elders Forum. In a significant show of confidence, the group has thrown its weight behind former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, describing him as the most qualified candidate to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.”
The Umuahia North Elders Forum has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, endorsing him as its preferred candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
The forum stated that its decision was based on Orji’s proven leadership qualities, wealth of legislative experience, and demonstrated ability to attract development-oriented representation.
Speaking during a press conference alongside members of the forum’s executive council, Chairman of the group, Comrade Lucky Anunobi, said the constituency requires a representative with the capacity, vision, and experience to drive meaningful transformation and deliver democratic dividends to the people.
According to him, the endorsement was not influenced by partisan considerations but by a commitment to supporting a credible and competent individual capable of advancing the interests of the constituency.

“We are not endorsing any political party. Our support is for a candidate whose leadership record and commitment to public service are visible for all to see. The people of Ikwuano/Umuahia deserve quality representation, and we believe Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji possesses the experience and capacity needed to deliver it,” Anunobi stated.
The elders further noted that Orji’s contributions to governance and development in Abia State remain evident, adding that his election into the House of Representatives would bring additional value and influence to the constituency at the national level.
The forum also called on various clans and stakeholders within Umuahia North Local Government Area to rally behind Orji’s aspiration, describing it as a collective opportunity to strengthen the area’s voice in the National Assembly.
In addition, the group expressed reservations over ongoing discussions surrounding micro-zoning arrangements for the federal constituency seat. The elders argued that such considerations could undermine the emergence of the most qualified candidate.
According to them, the people of Ibeku and Ohuhu have historically coexisted peacefully and shared political opportunities without division. They maintained that competence, capacity, and the broader interest of the constituency should take precedence over micro-zoning considerations ahead of the 2027 election.
The endorsement is expected to add a new dimension to political conversations within the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency as political stakeholders begin strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 polls.
