The Commissioner for Infrastructure Concession and Development, Engr Fidelis Nweze, is dead.
A two-time Commissioner in the state, Engr Nweze, was traveling to Enugu on Saturday, in the company of his driver, when their vehicle rammed into a stationary articulated vehicle at the busy Eke Obinagu axis of Enugu North Local Government Area, at about 7.30pm.
While it was gathered that his driver had been unconscious as of the time of filing this report, Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, on Tuesday evening, in pains confirmed Engr Nweze, died on Tuesday morning at the Intensive Care Unit of the Turkish Hospital, Abuja, where efforts by medical experts had been in top gear to save his life.
Meanwhile, following the untimely death of Engr Nweze, Governor Umahi, on Tuesday, declared tomorrow, (Wednesday) as a public holiday, across the state.
He ordered civil servants to stay at home while markets, banks, and all public places should remain closed.
According to Umahi, the Nigerian flag should be lowered in the state, in honour of the late Commissioner.
He equally directed that the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ebonyi Chapter, to organise prayer and fasting for the state, according to him, should be concluded by 4:00pm on Wednesday, at State’s Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki.
