In every given community, there is always that one passionate individual who consistently wails and gnashes his teeth in his desire to see his people abound in progress.

Just like the biblical voice of one crying in the wilderness, Elder Goodluck Nwuju today, symbolises the new testament John the baptist, as he goes about intensifying his efforts to eradicate all forms of hardship and improve the living standard of the people of Asa if elected as the President-general of Asa Development Union, (ADU).

In his manifesto, the renowned, successful businessman expresses his unreserved love for his people, while also acknowledging that the community is blessed beyond measures when placed side-by-side with other sister-communities in the State.

The 51-years-old born philanthropist who hails from Ozatta Asa, Etiti-Asa Autonomous Community had his primary and secondary education at Community Primary School, Ozatta and Ogwe Comprehensive Secondary School, respectively.

The emotion ladden Government/Public Administration graduate of Abia State University, Ututu (ABSU) who is currently the President of ADU Port Harcourt Branch, while speaking in a statement made available to Famousreporters.com, today, Thursday, May 9, reiterated that his decision to avail himself to render a selfless service to the people of Asa was borne out of the age-long, undiluted love he nurtures for the people.

Speaking in his manifesto, he said:

“My lovely people of Asa Land, it is with utmost humility, sense of passion, and unquenchable hunger to serve that I present myself to you, as a worthy servant capable of sustaining the mantle of leadership of our dear Asa Development Union (ADU).

“My decision to submit myself as a servant in the humble capacity of the President-General of Asa Development Union, the Apex socio-cultural body of Asa people, is borne out of the undiluted love I have for my people. This has spanned through decades, arising from my innate desires to see my cherished people of Asa have a distinct and qualitative voice on issues of interest affecting us as a group of people within Abia state.

“It is now a rhythmic melody with unobjectionable annotations that our dear Asa land is a blessed and endowed region in Abia State, strategically placed and specially crafted by God to harbor the most peaceful class of people ever known on the surface of the earth. It is this peace, unity and brotherly love which have cemented our existence as a people and bonded the fabrics of our existence that I dearly seek to uphold if found worthy to be hired by my people of Asa.”

Continuing, he pledged to work assiduously and in tandem with the will of the people of Asa, while also assuring a resounding collaboration with the existing team, in his quest to provide Asa land “that true essence of its beautiful existence and its enviable peculiarity as a region heavenly placed within Abia state.”

Meanwhile, he commended his predecessors for the enviable outstanding roles they played in making the area a second to none, while assuring that his administration, of elected would consolidate on the landmark achievements of the latter.

He used the medium to commiserate with the entire community of Asa over the passing of late Dr. IK Ajuziogu, the immediate past President-general of ADU, describing the deceased as illustrious, determined, brainy, exceptional and patriotic.

The manifesto reads in detail:

“It is worthy of note that those who had previously worn this shoe of leadership as past President-Generals and Ex- Officials of our dear union had done commendably well to keep us together in the face of existing challenges.

“It is very unfortunate that we lost our illustrious, determined, brainy, exceptional, patriotic President-General in the person of late Dr. IK Ajuziogu to death while still in active service. We all knew what he represented to the Asa clan. He was dedicated, vibrant and intentional about the affairs of Asa and was a force to be reckoned with. We are, however, consoled that our good God saw through his intentions and sincere heart and blessed Asa with a dedicated team that has been carrying the affairs of the Union in an excellent manner.

“I see it only natural that at this time when the people of Asa, in pursuant of the guiding regulations and organizational principles have deemed it fit to source a replacement for the heroic late Ajuziogu, that the tempo of capacity, motivation, eagerness and willingness be sustained for whoever that shall fit into this demanding role.
It is imperative to bring to bear my impregnable readiness to take up the sacrificial role of the President-General of this glorious Union. The role and task associated therein may be challenging but with preparedness, steadfastness and precision, together with the support of all good and well-meaning Asa people, I am certain that the journey will become easy.

“I hereby, present myself to the people of Asa as a willing tool to be used in the achievement of the goals of Asa Development Union. I make bold to say that I am not a stranger in the system. I have actively fitted in the activities and the agenda of the union. As the current President of the Port Harcourt branch of ADU, the need of the Asa man in all dynamic and competitive environment is not a puzzle to me. With all sense of humility, I have successfully piloted the affairs of one of the biggest and viable branches of this union without disappointing the numerous people of Asa dwelling in the Oil city of Port Harcourt. Not a day has the said branch, under my watch, been found wanting in the larger national body of our union. I, therefore, seek to be adorned with this rare privilege, to replicate the good works I am known for. I promise never to disappoint Asa land.
Thank God, based on the mandate given to the people of Asa Group to meet at home and recommend a consensus choice for the post of President-General, Asa Group Leaders had met in the house of the Transition Committee Chairman/ Mayor of Ukwa-West Local Government Area Council, Mr Newman Azuh, and, through a transparent democratic process, elected me, having polled 16 votes out of 20.

My Agenda;

UNIFICATION OF ASA LAND:

Just like the popular maxim goes, ‘united we stand, divided we fall’, it is, therefore, imperative to state that as a people, our strength lies in our unity, alliance and affinity. And as a dedicated Asa Man who understands the strength we share in unity, I will always, in alliance with the National Executive Committee, NEC, of ADU take conscious steps to sustain the unity and co-existence of Asa people both within Asa Land and those in the diaspora. This move for unity shall be built on the foundation of Equity, Fairness and Justice. Under my watch as President- General, ADU shall not be allowed to take a partisan role in politics. Rather, necessary Committees shall be created to balance the interest of our brothers and sisters in active politics with the intention to protect the interest of Asa in general.

PROGRESSIVENESS IN ASA:
The level of sustainable progress in Asa land is our hope for enviable developments for our younger generations. As President-General of ADU, I shall champion the cause of Asa to the hallway of the Governments, Non-Governmental Organizations, Corporate Organizations, as well as capable individual actors. My aim is to promote our interest as a group, by seeking through appropriate channels, the inclusion, absorption and integration of Asa youths and a viable workforce into productive areas and sectors of the country for economic gains.

ADU/GOVERNMENT RELATIONSHIP:
The primary purpose of the government as known to us is to ensure the security and welfare of its citizens. In a setting such as ours where the available resources of the government are seen to be limited, I shall consolidate on the cordial relationship already established by the past and existing leadership of ADU to sustain the name of Asa people on the top echelon of the register of the State Government. This, I am certain, will always throw the illuminating light of the State on Asa for Educational, Infrastructural and Human developmental projects.

EDUCATIONAL/SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT:
By association, as a successful businessman, I have been graced to come in contact with individuals who speak highly well of the giant strands initiated, serviced and maintained by their socio-cultural organizations similar to ADU. Upon being elected as President-General, I shall work in conjunction with patriotic sons of Asa land to advance and promote growth of education and social development, inculcating subsidized acquisition packages and also solicit government’s and individual’s patronage and sponsorship. ADU under my watch will initiate essay and quiz competitions aimed at encouraging educationally hard working young minds and reestablishing confidence in the educational system.

“SECURITY AND PROTECTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTIES IN ASA:
As the apex Socio-Cultural body of Asa land, the ADU under my supervision, shall work very strategically, in conjunction with all relevant agencies, groups, communities and individuals, to uphold the security of Asa people in the face of uncertainties and insecurities prevalent in our country. The ADU shall sensitise various Communities through Community Leaders on the need to be security conscious, knowing that Security is every body’s business. We shall also take steps to work closely with Security Agencies and Local Vigilantes within our locality to ensure we guarantee all round security for our People.
I hereby solicit everyone’s support as we collectively rewrite and retain the name of Asa in the positive book of history.

“Your loyal Servant;
GOODLUCK NWUJU.”
