Over 6.8 million Nigerians have registered for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise. Women account for 52.23% (3,581,562), while men make up 47.77% (3,275,417). Youths aged 18-34 represent 4,689,263 of the registrants, students comprise 1,728,384, and persons with disabilities number 154,479. The completed online pre-registrations total 658,766, alongside 557,282 physical registrations.
In light of this positive development, E.C.K. Foundation President, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu, is urging Southeast voters, especially those in Abia North and Abia State, to take the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise seriously.
In a statement, Dr Kalu emphasised that voting is a vital aspect of determining the community’s destiny and choosing the right leaders. He encouraged residents of Abia State to maintain the progress they have achieved and make their voices heard by selecting representatives who genuinely reflect their interests.
“Your vote is your voice, and it’s essential to use it to shape the future of our state and nation,” Dr Kalu stated. He highlighted the significance of voter registration, noting that it is a crucial step towards ensuring that every eligible citizen has a say in the country’s leadership.
The INEC voter registration exercise has made significant strides, with over 6.8 million registrations nationwide. Dr. Dru’s call to action aims to inspire more eligible voters to participate in the process.
By registering and voting, residents of Abia State can help influence the direction of their state and contribute to the nation’s development. Dr. Kalu’s appeal serves as a reminder of the power of voting and the importance of civic engagement in shaping Nigeria’s future.
