Abia State Confirms First Case of Monkeypox

By Elizabeth Austin, Lagos The Abia State Government has confirmed its first case of monkeypox, according to an announcement made by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Monday, August 19. Out of 13 suspected cases, one has been confirmed positive, nine have tested negative, and three are still awaiting confirmation. Fortunately, no deaths have been recorded so far. The confirmed case was reported in the Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area.
