STI Minister Ikoh, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Empower Over 200 Women

 

 

It was a moment of celebration and joy for indigenes of Oboro, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, as the new Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management empowered over 200 women/ less privileged in their midsts.

 

This is even as the Minister has shown frantic efforts in his quest to make better the lots of his people, a magnanimity which he has been in display even before his recent appointment.

 

The empowerment exercise which was administered by the officials of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Diaster Management, took place today, Thursday 22nd, in the Minister’s residence in Ndoro Oboro, Ikwuano L.G.A.

 

 

According to indigenes of Ikwuano, “Chief Ikoh is showing no sign of relenting in his empowerment drive in his community and we’re proud of him.”

 

 

Famousreporters.com reports that Ozurumba had distributed palliative to the 17 Local Government in Abia state the previous two weeks.

According to the Minister’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Onyemaobi Prince Chukwuemeka, the benevolent act marks the beginning of the second phase wherein over 200 women and less privilege in Ikwuano received a cash gift of N20,000.00 each.

 

 

Speaking in an exclusive interview with famousreporters.com, the women Leader and a beneficiary, Mrs. Ezinne Runke Atuma, in her euphoric mood, expressed gratitude to Ikoh for making himself available as a vessel to be used of God in restoring what she termed “our people’s lost hope.

“Famour Reporter, this is the first in the book of history to receive anything like this from the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 1999, because Our Son Ozurumba is there, he attracted this grant to help our women”.

 

Corroborating, another beneficiary who expressed immense happiness over the compassionate nature of the Honourable Minister, has this to say: “I didn’t know I’ll have something of this nature, it is of the compassion of our son, Chief Henry Okoh to remember us and as our women are happy, we bless him from our heart that He will prosper more”.

Earlier, the wife of the Minister, Lolo Barr. Obiageri Ikoh who thanked God for giving her a benevolent husband, explained that the programme was in line with the Federal Government’s zeal to ameliorate poverty from among the people with focus on the women folk.

 

“This is federal government empowerment investment to the women, less privilege and villagers in Ikwuano. So that they can feel the impact of the federal government”.

 

 

She described her husband as a man who has the welfare of the masses at heart and affirmed that “he will use his position to improve the lives of his people”, she said.

 

 

Meanwhile, the highlight of the event was a display by the women of the community who sang sonorously and chanted with joy and happiness.

 

 

The elated women unanimously prayed for more of the blessings of God upon Ozurumba for the kind gestures, saying, “we wish him well, sound health, higher positions to achieve greater feat and keep doing good. That’s our prayer for him.”
