Soldier Kills Area Boy In Self Defence, As Hoodlums Unleash Attack

Some unidentified hoodlums launched an attack on a innocent Soldier at Oshodi, Lagos State on 7 February 23.

 

The soldier, in self defence, was said to have stabbed one of the hoodlums who was critically injured and later pronounced dead by a medical facility where he was rushed to after the incident.

 

According to an eye witness account, she said the soldier was walking in front of them when they attacked him from behind. “I don’t know if they wanted to snatch his phone, but he was struggling between them, but later escaped to nearby barracks and the area boys also scattered. It was after they scattered that we saw one of them lying lifeless on the ground, she narrated.

 

The attacked soldier who also sustained injury is said to be currently undergoing treatment at a military medical facility.

The Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lt Col Olabisi Ayeni said efforts are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. He also added that troops of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army recently raided Oshodi general area where according to him, over 116 suspected hoodlums were arrested. He said some of the items recovered include, locally made pistol,local charms, Indian hemp and Tramadol amongst others.

 

“The suspects were arrested on the Railside, Brown Street, Araromi and other parts in Oshodi axis, it was at the same Oshodi that the soldier was attacked”, he added.
