See whooping sum DSS makes each time Kanu appears in court
Sowore has asserted that DSS makes ₦500m each time Nnamdi Kanu appears in court.
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of exploiting the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), for financial gain.
In a video report published by Symfoni TV on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Sowore alleged that the security agency profits heavily from every court appearance by Kanu, describing the process as a “corruption-driven charade.”
According to Sowore, “We also want to stop the corruption behind Nnamdi Kanu’s trial. Because each time he is taken to court, the DSS makes ₦500 million just to take him there — only to ask for an adjournment to come back another day.”

Sowore, who has been spearheading a nationwide protest demanding Kanu’s release, said his movement is not against the government but rather seeks to “help decongest the courts” and “end judicial corruption.”
He stated, “For those hearing us, what we’re doing actually helps the Nigerian government. We want to help them simplify the justice system and stop the wastage that comes with politically motivated trials.”
Drawing from his personal experience with the DSS, the activist claimed that such tactics are part of a broader pattern used to frustrate and punish political opponents.
“I am not new to this,” he added. “They did the same thing to me before.”
