Rep. Onuigbo Lauds Chioma Onyekwere Over MON Award
The lawmaker representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Rep Sam Onuigbo on Friday has congratulated the latest Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Chioma Onyekwere on her conferment of the honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday honoured Onyekwere with the MON award in recognition of her remarkable exploits in sports.
According to the Legislator, “this honour, which is well-deserved, is in recognition of Chioma’s remarkable exploits in sports. It is interesting that Chioma’s father, Chief Chima Uzoma Onyekwere, OON is an awardee of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)! This is a clear example that Chioma is from a family of trailblazers and ultimately testifies to the fact that Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency is a constituency of great persons.
In a press statement, Onuigbo described Chioma as an embodiment of the unwavering aspirations, strength, and perseverance of women from Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency
“A Commonwealth Games Gold medalist, Chioma embodies the unwavering aspirations, strength, and perseverance of women from Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Abia State, and Nigeria”
Onuigbo who is also the APC Senatorial Candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District ticket further added that “Chioma’s outstanding accomplishments are worthy of recognition, celebration, and emulation. She is indeed a true ambassador of our people and I am proud of her and the many women and girls of our great federal constituency.
“On behalf of the good people of great Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, I congratulate Chioma and wish her all the best in her future endeavours”.
