Popular Commissioner, Unidentified Woman Found Dead In Guest House
Ibrahim Garba, the Borno State Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR), was discovered deceased on Saturday in his guest house located within the 777 housing estate in Maiduguri. Alongside him was an unidentified woman who was found unconscious and later passed away at the hospital where she was taken for treatment.
Both bodies are currently lying at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, as an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of their passing.
The Borno State Government has confirmed the commissioner’s demise, expressing deep shock and sorrow.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum received the news with profound grief, as conveyed by the governor’s spokesperson, Isa Gusau.
The statement extended condolences to the late commissioner’s family, friends, associates, and members of the state executive council.
The Borno State police command has initiated an immediate investigation into Mr. Garba’s death, as confirmed by Mr. Gusau. He also mentioned that the state police commissioner visited the house in Maiduguri where the commissioner was found.
Although the statement did not provide details on the circumstances surrounding the incident or the identity of the woman, it offered prayers for the commissioner’s forgiveness and peaceful afterlife.
Additional information was provided by the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Command, Kaminu Shatambaya. He stated that while it was a tragic loss, an official statement from the police would be issued after the autopsy results are available.
Mr. Garba, a significant figure in Governor Zulum’s administration, previously served as the Special Adviser on Special Projects before being appointed commissioner of RRR at the start of Mr. Zulum’s second term.
