A woman whose name was not identified as at the time of filing this report was, in the early hours of today, taken to Ehimiri Police Station, Umuahia, for inflicting injuries on a girl of about 12-years-old, at popular Opet Filling Station.
The old woman in her late sixties who was supposedly heading for Ndoro market was spotted by two Journalists, Divine and Charity, as she, amidst bitterness pounced on the poor girl, for allegedly delaying to meet up with her at the bus stop where she was to deliver her luggage to her.
The poor girl felt a huge relief as two journalists (Divine and Charity) who were discussing at the same spot, the unfolding drama and tried to intervene in the matter.
More drama unfolded as people gathered and immediately one of the mediators whose efforts failed rang the police.
According to the woman, her teeth have over the years served as her most effective weapon, as she is accustomed to attacking her offenders with her teeth.
Hear her confessions: “I asked her to bring my bags to this junction and I have been here since 7:00am”, she said.
The old woman further boasted that her son was a member of the Nigerian Army, threatened to call the latter to attack the people, saying “yes, I bite everyone including my children and my husband and if you dare me, I’ll bite you now. By the way, where is the mark you say I gave her on her back?”
However, one of her son’s who identified himself as her grandchild pleaded on behalf of the old woman as he left with the child in his vehicle, while promising to return her to her parents.
“Please, I’m sorry about that. She’s my grandmother and that’s how she behaves”, he said.
Meanwhile, earlier, before her arrest, the woman who was challenged by the two journalists for biting the girl instead of beating her with stick if need be also threatened to bite the Journalists if they insisted on “talking what does not concern them and calling the attention of the Police”.
