“The political landscape has received a major development as the Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement officially throws its weight behind the Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket. The group believes the combination represents competence, experience, and a pathway toward a more united Nigeria.”
The Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement, a pan-Nigerian political advocacy group, has officially announced its adoption of the Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket ahead of Nigeria’s forthcoming presidential election.
The group made the announcement through a press statement dated June 24, 2026, which was jointly signed by Chief Vitalis O. Mbaeru, the President-General of the Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement, and Chief Engr. Anthony Frank Obineme, the National President.
The statement, which was made available to TBE Magazine, outlined the reasons behind the group’s decision, following what it described as “extensive consultations with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.”
The movement stated that Nigeria requires leaders with proven competence, integrity, and the capacity to drive national transformation, adding that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were selected based on their public service records, leadership experience, and national appeal.
According to the group, the Peter Obi–Kwankwaso ticket represents an opportunity to promote unity across Nigeria’s ethnic, religious, and regional divides while addressing critical challenges facing the country.
The movement also highlighted Peter Obi’s record in public service, particularly his tenure as Governor of Anambra State, where it said he demonstrated commitment to accountability, prudent resource management, economic development, and people-oriented governance.
Similarly, the group praised Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s leadership experience as a former Governor of Kano State, former Minister of Defence, and founder of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, describing him as a leader with strong grassroots influence.
The Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement said the combination of both leaders’ experience and political reach could help tackle Nigeria’s economic difficulties, insecurity, unemployment, and development challenges.
It therefore called on Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious backgrounds to support what it described as a “people-driven initiative” aimed at building a united and prosperous nation.
The statement read in full:
“The leadership and members of the Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement, after extensive consultations with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, are pleased to announce the formal adoption of Mr Peter Obi as the Presidential Candidate and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the Vice Presidential Candidate for the forthcoming Presidential Election in Nigeria.
This decision is based on their proven records of public service, leadership competence, integrity, national appeal, and widespread acceptance across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Mr Peter Obi has distinguished himself through prudent management of public resources, commitment to accountability, economic development, and people-oriented governance.
Similarly, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has demonstrated leadership at both state and national levels through his public service record and commitment to human capital development.
The Nigeria Diaspora Wazobia Movement believes that a Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso ticket represents a unique opportunity to unite Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and regional divides.
Together, they embody the values of competence, inclusiveness, national cohesion, and transformational leadership that Nigeria urgently needs.
We therefore call on all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or ethnicity, to support this people-driven initiative aimed at securing a better future for our country.”
