PDP’s member-elect dies few weeks to swearing in

 

 

Death has laid its cold hand on a House of Representatives member-elect for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal constituency, Taraba State, Ismaila Maihanci.

 

Maihanci died early Saturday morning and his janaza (funeral prayer) will hold today at the National Mosque in Abuja after noon prayers.

 

His untimely death came a few weeks to his swearing in of the newly elected officials.

 

Bashir Ahmad revealed this through his Twitter account in the early hours of today.

 

Sharing the sad news in his tweet, he wrote:

 

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un! Just received a sad news about the passing of our brother, Hon. Ismail Maihanci, a member-elect of Jalingo, Yorro and Zing, Federal Constituency in Taraba State. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannah al-Firdaus.”

The October 22, 1986 born politician and businessman was elected in the just held general elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Before his election also, he has served as a Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku. He had also served as the Secretary of PDP in Taraba State.

 

He is survived by a wife Fatiha Sangari and a son.
