OTTI 2027: ‘No Vacancy in Abia Government House’ — Ubani SAN Declares During GOMEP Visit

ABIA – Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Monday Ubani, has called for value-based leadership among elected and appointed public office holders, stressing that leaders must justify the trust placed in them by citizens through impactful governance, accountability, and people-oriented policies.

Ubani made the call while receiving the National President of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP), Comrade Otti Treasure, alongside members of the association’s national leadership, at his country home in Umuosoko, Awomukwu, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking during the visit, the renowned legal practitioner emphasized that public office holders must remain committed to the welfare of the people by implementing policies and programmes that improve living standards, drive economic growth, and promote sustainable development.

According to him, effective leadership is measured not by political rhetoric but by tangible results that positively impact citizens.
Ubani cited the visible transformation taking place in Abia State under the administration of Governor Alex Otti as a practical example of value-based leadership.

He noted that within three years in office, Governor Otti has initiated developmental projects and governance reforms that have significantly altered public perception of the state.

“The level of transformation taking place in Abia today is evident for all to see. The governor has raised the bar of governance and restored confidence among the people,” Ubani stated.

The senior lawyer further observed that the administration has substantially reversed the negative narratives that previously trailed the state, adding that Abians now proudly identify with their state both within and outside Nigeria.

In a strong political statement ahead of the 2027 governorship election, Ubani declared that there is “no vacancy” in Abia Government House.

He urged residents of the state to support Governor Otti’s re-election bid overwhelmingly, arguing that a second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate on the gains already recorded across critical sectors.

According to him, the governor has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development and has elevated governance standards within a relatively short period.

“If these achievements can be recorded within three years, one can only imagine the level of progress Abia State will attain after eight years of focused and purposeful leadership,” he added.

In his remarks, the National President of GOMEP, Comrade Otti Treasure, commended Ubani for his longstanding commitment to the defence of human rights, promotion of social justice, and invaluable contributions to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.

He also assured the respected legal luminary of the association’s readiness to collaborate with him in advancing good governance, accountability, and a society where leaders remain responsive to the aspirations of the people.

The GOMEP National President was accompanied on the visit by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Tochukwu Eluwa, and National Treasurer, Charity Uwakwe, popularly known as “Distinguished Chacha.”
