The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Rep. Sam Onuigbo, has facilitated efforts to ensure that additional funding is provided for the completion and furnishing of the Oloko Health Centre.

This obviously has yielded fruits, as the completion contract has been awarded by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA) to the Contactor, Pst. Fredrick Okpokoro of Chirpact Integrated Services Ltd.

This was revealed during the site handover event by the Project officer, MNDA, Abia State, Bldr. Umar Ibrahim Sarki, at Ahia-Eke Oloko, in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, Saturday, February 13, 2021.

Recall that block work and roofing of the project, which was attracted by Rep. Onuigbo, had been completed as at last year.

  • Meanwhile, to the people of Oloko, the Lord has again come to their rescue and indeed, their era of change of story has begun, as their assumed lost hope has suddenly been restored.

Addressing the people of Oloko in their euphoric mood, Bldr. Sarki charged the Contractor to ensure they work peacefully with the locals and also deliver the project within the stipulated time and according to the specifications enumerated in the contract.

Furthermore, the Project Officer who lauded Rep. Onuigbo, urged the community to work collaboratively with the contractors so as to ensure swift execution of the project.

“The first time I came here on assessment, like I said earlier, earlier, I looked around and I saw an existing massive project and was told by a community member that it was a health centre and then I knew it was the health centre I was a, I went in, looked at the building and then translated into drawing, which our head office produced the drawing.

He said: “The contractor is expected to finish this work in less than two months so I believe it will be very helpful for the community to do whatever whatever is in their power to assist the contractor to finish this job in good time.”

On the anticipated time frame for the completion of the gigantic project, he assured that the edifice would be completed within a period of two months.

“I don’t have the award letter but I believe the time frame should be eight weeks for it to be completed.

Responding, the Contractor who was represented by Mr. Peter Otto promised that they would assiduously to ensure that a timely delivery of the edifice before the specified time.

“I’m very very sure that the work is going to completed within one month by God’s grace. I’m sure because I know the man I’m working with”.

The Liaison Officer of Rep. Sam Onuigbo who represented the Federal Lawmaker at the event, Evangelist Abraham Osondu, said the Community project was attracted by Chief Onuigbo during his at the Red Chamber.

Hear him: “this project started in his first term in the office but he ran out of funding. He even injected his private money into this project to get it moving up to a point when he could not continue. But, to God be the glory that he returned to Niger Delta office to make his bidding, to do all his work and they have responded once more, this time for good.

He, therefore, charged the contractor to endeavour that work commenced unhesitantly so as to restore in totality the long lost hope of the people, while imploring the people to be kind, loving and peaceful towards the former.

Adding, he said, This project has been in his mind and ever since then, he has not been sleeping. And that’s why to the contractor it’s not like a warning but the community has been expecting this project for a very long time and now it has come to fruition. That’s why they’re stressing that nothing should delay since the ministry has come to our help again. We should all appreciate the Rep and continue to pray for God to bless him for the good work he will be doing here”, he pleaded.

“I am very very happy for what the Hon. Sam Onuigbo is doing for us. For that we are hundred percent behind him in whatever he is doing and we pray that the Almighty God blesses him Iall he does. It is true that this Health Centre is situated in oloko town but it is for the whole Oloko community.”

Meanwhile, FamousReporters who visited the site observed that the architectural structure was a massive one and had also attained its finishing stage, as little or less work is required for its completion.

This is, therefore, contrary to the rumour borne by some aggrieved members of the PDP in Ikwuano, who had wrongfully accused the House Member of abandoning a project in Oloko consequent on his defection to the APC.

However, a reliable source from Ikwuano who spoke to FamousReporters on anonymity said:

“The hospital was started a couple of years ago, and has gone far. However, funding wasn’t completely provided by the FG. Now the Honourable has now fought for more funding to be provided so that it can be completed and the FG has provided additional funding. So, the contractors have come to inspect it so they can start work and complete it speedily”, the source said.

Highlight of the occasion was the handover of contract documents and the site to the contractor.IMG 20210214 WA0005IMG 20210214 WA0004
