Okagwe Ohafia community lauds Orji Kalu over provision of solar streetlights

The residents of Okagwe Ohafia in Ohafia local government area of Anambra state have commended the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu for the provision of solar streetlights in the area.

The streetlights installation was in continuation of the over 500 streetlights provided across the five local government areas of the Senatorial District.

A resident of Okagwe Ohafia community, Madam Grace Kalu, said that the project had impacted on their lives significantly, saying: “I have had more sales at night because of the street lights. It has also helped security wise. We appreciate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for this gesture.”

Chief Kalu Ukoha, commended Senator Kalu for reaching out to them, stressing that he had always known the lawmaker to be a good man and a promise keeper before he became a senator, describing him a forthright politician.

“I know Senator to be a good man, promise keeper, and forthright politician. His electoral wasn’t surprisingly because I know he performed creditably better than other senators. I thank him for the provision of solar street lights to my community,” he said.

Ifeanyi Iro, an indigine of Asaga Ohafia community, though said he was in Okagwe for a visit, but thanked God that he did not waste his vote, describing Senator Kalu as an exceptional politician. He said that Kalu had started fulfilling his electioneering promises, saying he would continue to get their votes as a promise keeper.

Iro expressed their appreciation to the lawmaker on behalf of all youths in Ohafia local government area.

Senator Kalu had in June announced the commencement of the second phase of solar powered street lights-up project across his constituency.

A statement from his media office indicated that the installation of the street lights up projects cut across the five local government areas of the Senatorial District with 48 communities as beneficiaries.

The statement said that the project is meant to light up dark spots around the communities, increase social and economic activities and reduce criminal activities in various benefiting communities.

The former Abia governor urged community leaders and residents of the various communities to take ownership of the lights and other government infrastructure to prevent vandalism.

He said that the project and other numerous ones he had facilitated were meant to enhance the quality of lives of the people, and should not be destroyed.
