“For many widows and vulnerable women in Abia State, it was a moment of reassurance and renewed hope. The South-East Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Oby Ajih, on Thursday met with widows of APC members at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, where she delivered President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s goodwill message centered on inclusion, empowerment, and improved welfare for women. The gathering also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the APC administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens and strengthening women’s participation in governance and national development.”

The South-East Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Oby Ajih, has reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare, inclusion, and empowerment of women across Nigeria.

Dr. Ajih made this known shortly after a meeting with widows of APC members held at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

Speaking during the engagement, she said the President’s goodwill message to women was one of appreciation, support, and recognition of their critical role in nation-building and democratic development.

“The goodwill message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is one of appreciation, inclusion, and support for women. The President recognizes the vital role women play in nation-building and democratic development. He remains committed to implementing policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of women, empower them economically, and create opportunities for their active participation in governance and society,” she stated.

According to her, the APC has continued to encourage women across Abia State to participate actively in programmes and initiatives designed to improve their lives and strengthen their communities.

On concerns raised about security challenges facing the country, Dr. Ajih noted that security agencies were working relentlessly to address cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities.

She cautioned against the spread of unverified information and stressed the need for balanced public discourse on security matters.

“The government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. Efforts are ongoing to rescue victims, apprehend criminals, and strengthen security operations nationwide. While challenges remain, it is important to acknowledge the work being done by security agencies and avoid spreading unverified information,” she said.

Addressing women in Abia State, the APC chieftain called for unity, hope, and active participation in governance and community development.

“My message to the women of Abia State is simple: remain united, hopeful, and actively involved in the development of our state and nation. Women are the backbone of every society, and their contributions to family, community, and governance are invaluable.
“I encourage you to continue supporting initiatives that promote peace, development, education, and economic empowerment. Together, we can build a better future for our children and generations yet unborn.”

She further assured that the APC remained committed to implementing policies and programmes aimed at uplifting women and improving their standard of living.

Meanwhile, APC stalwart and the candidate of the party for Aba North and South federal constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Uzor Azubuike described the outreach to widows and vulnerable persons as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.

According to him, despite being relatively new in office, the government has already begun taking practical steps to support disadvantaged members of society.

“Today marks another significant milestone for our government. As part of the sacrifices and commitments being made by this administration, we have chosen to identify with and support the less privileged members of our society, particularly widows and vulnerable persons across the state,” Azubuike said.

He explained that stakeholders and supporters had been mobilized to assist vulnerable groups, stressing that governance should positively impact every citizen, regardless of social status.

Responding to concerns about insecurity in Nigeria, Azubuike noted that the challenge predates the APC administration and remains a global issue affecting many nations.

“Insecurity did not begin with the APC administration. It existed before the emergence of former President Goodluck Jonathan, continued during the years of the PDP administration, and remained a challenge throughout the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari. The reality is that insecurity is a global phenomenon affecting many countries around the world,” he said.

He maintained that the APC government had continued to invest in strengthening security institutions, enhancing intelligence gathering, and improving the operational capacity of security agencies.

While acknowledging that security challenges cannot be eliminated overnight, Azubuike emphasized that the government remains committed to sustained efforts aimed at protecting lives and property.

He therefore urged Nigerians to continue supporting government initiatives and to work collectively towards building a safer and more secure nation.

The event brought together party faithful, women leaders, widows, and supporters, underscoring the APC’s commitment to social welfare, women empowerment, and inclusive governance in Abia State and across Nigeria.
