Oboro Community In UK Hosts Dr. Monday O. Ubani, SAN, In Harlows Town, Essex

The Oboro Community in the United Kingdom recently hosted Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani, SAN, during his visit to London for the graduation ceremony of his daughter.

Oboro, one of the foremost clans in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, has consistently demonstrated strong interest in the progress and development of every administration in the state. The interactive session in Harlows Town provided a platform for meaningful discussions on the political and developmental trajectory of both Ikwuano and Abia State in general.

A central theme of the evening was the overwhelming admiration for the remarkable developmental strides of the present administration under His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR. The diasporan members expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the continuity of good governance in Abia State. They pledged both moral and logistical support toward the re-election of Governor Otti in 2027.

The community, however, appealed for equitable distribution of infrastructural projects across Ikwuano. They specifically requested the construction and rehabilitation of the following:

Okwe Ukwu/Umuesen Road linking Olori,

Isiala Oboro/Olori Road, and

basic infrastructure for Obunta Community, described as one of the most neglected areas in Ikwuano.

They also highlighted the plight of Ibere Clan, which continues to suffer from severe erosion, poor road networks, and inadequate educational facilities, while noting that the clan is yet to produce a member of the Abia State House of Assembly since the creation of the state.

The forum featured a lively question-and-answer session on governance and public policy in Abia State. One recurring concern was the state of security, as many attendees expressed interest in returning home to invest.

Responding, Dr. Ubani reassured them that Abia State remains one of the safest states in the South-East region, and indeed the country. He commended the proactive collaboration between village vigilante groups, conventional security agencies, and the Abia State Homeland Security outfit, all of which have benefited from consistent government support. He urged the community to invest in their home state, describing Abia as the “new destination of choice for both local and foreign investors.”

The evening ended on a joyous note, marked by music, dance, and sumptuous delicacies.

Notable attendees included Emeka Anyanwu (Okwe), Kingsley Otti (Okwe), Eze Onwukwe (Amaba), Oge Ngadi (Ikwueke), Chief Mrs. Maureen Agada (Ugbuebilla, married to Chief Ezeji Agada of Mbaise), Mrs. Uloma Okoro (née Ukazu, Nnonu, Oboro), and Chinyere Ujah (Ugbuebilla). Some friends of Chief Emeka Anyanwu, like Mrs Elizabeth Onyechere, Adadi-Ugwu 1 of Ogwu Udo of Imo State, Chief Chris Ndukwe of Item in Abia State and Chief David Uzosike of Umunwanwa in Umu Okpara of Abia were in attendance.
