Oboro Clan Welfare Association to Hold 2025 AGM,
*Unveils Political Vision

“The Oboro Clan Welfare Association (OCWA) will hold its 2025 AGM in Abia State, unveiling its political vision and honouring distinguished Oboro sons for community service and development.”

The Oboro Clan Welfare Association Federated (OCWA) has announced plans to hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Get-Together on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at La Escape Hotel and Resort, Nnono Junction, Umugbalu, Abia State.

According to the organisers, the AGM, which formally commences at 10:00 a.m. prompt, will feature a keynote address titled “Oboro Clan: Our Culture and Our Place in National Politics.” The lecture will be delivered by renowned legal practitioner and academic, Professor Uwaoma Ironkwe.

The event is expected to serve as a strategic platform for discussions on the Oboro Clan’s cultural heritage, political relevance, and developmental aspirations within Abia State and Nigeria at large.

As part of the programme, OCWA will honour several illustrious sons of Oboro Clan in recognition of their outstanding contributions to community development, public service, and philanthropy. Those to be honoured include Engr. Chief Iyke Anyadighibe, Dr. Sunday Ohuegbe, Chief Uwaoma Ukandu, Abia State Commissioner for Finance, and High Chief Jephta Chibudom.

In a statement issued ahead of the event, the association called on Oboro sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to attend the gathering.

“Come and be part of charting the way forward for the Oboro Clan’s place in the emerging political and development direction of Abia State and Nigeria. This is a unique opportunity for all stakeholders to collectively reposition Oboro for renewed greatness,” the statement read.

Oboro Community is notably home to two major federal institutions—Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) and the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI)—as well as Government College, Umuahia, one of the oldest secondary schools in Nigeria, underscoring the clan’s historical and educational significance.

The statement was jointly signed by Sir Matthew Ifenkwe, President-General of OCWA, and Sir Friday Ndu Eluwa, PhD, Secretary-General of the association.
