NIS Comptroller, CIS Onajinrin Seeks Stronger Support for Migration Management in Lagos
The Lagos State Command Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, CIS Christopher Olu Onajinrin, has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, to express deep appreciation for the Fund’s ongoing support while seeking further collaboration to strengthen migration and border security operations across Lagos, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, CIS Onajinrin conveyed a message of gratitude from the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, describing LSSTF’s interventions as invaluable. “I am here to express our profound gratitude to the LSSTF. Your worthy contributions have been acknowledged at the highest level,” he said. “As the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, the role of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Lagos can never be overemphasized. With the heat from the Sahel, we face irregular and undocumented inflows of migrants into Lagos, which many call the ‘America of the nation.”
He revealed recent operations, including the repatriation of 21 Chadians found living in a cramped apartment in Fagba, which is one of several similar cases uncovered in Alimosho, Epe, and other locations.
CIS Onajinrin appealed for operational vehicles and logistic support. “We are overstretched. Occasionally, when we need to repatriate migrants, we have to source vehicles from Oyingbo to convey them as far as Yobe or the Illela border. We have offices across all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs. Please look into our needs,” he said.
In response, the Executive Secretary/CEO of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ogunsan commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service NIS, Kemi Nanna Nandap for their exemplary leadership. He also laud the Comptroller of Lagos State Command, Olu Onajinrin and reaffirmed LSSTF’s readiness to partner more closely with the NIS. “You are a lifelong learner, and people like you are the leaders who thrive, raise others, and solve problems,” he said. “I see integrity, simplicity, and God at the centre of everything. Only noble souls offer deep gratitude. Thank you for believing in us.”
Dr. Ogunsan assured that the Comptroller of the NIS Lagos State Command, would not leave empty-handed. “For the operational vehicles, it will not be today, but by next week it will be presented,” he pledged.
He also promised involvement in upcoming training programmes and additional support in personnel kits. “For the training program, we will get you involved and give you attention among the first set if you furnish us with the needed information early. We want to have a mix of officers from different agencies in the same room. We will also help in kitting your men. There are some items in your dress code that we can give to you.”
The meeting reaffirmed LSSTF’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaborations to enhance security, migration management, and public safety across Lagos State.
