NAOSNP 2025: AIG Fayoade Adegoke Urges Nigerians to Unite in Safeguarding National Economic Resources

At the 2025 NAOSNP Security Conference in Lagos, AIG Fayoade Adegoke urged Nigerians to embrace integrity, vigilance, and shared responsibility in protecting the nation’s economic resources, describing it as a moral and patriotic imperative.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke, has called on Nigerians to demonstrate integrity, vigilance, and renewed commitment in safeguarding the nation’s economic resources.

AIG Adegoke made the call during the 2025 NAOSNP Security Conference held in Lagos on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with the theme, “Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources: A Call to Serve.”

He noted that the protection of Nigeria’s wealth had gone beyond a policy concern to become a “moral and prophetic imperative”, requiring the active involvement of every citizen alongside security agencies.

“The stability, prosperity, and sovereignty of every nation are shaped by how it manages its wealth,” AIG Adegoke said.
“Every citizen, every public servant, and every officer of the Nigerian Police and Armed Forces must recognize this as a sacred call to service.”

The AIG stressed that the effective management of Nigeria’s resources—ranging from natural endowments and public finances to digital assets and intellectual property—is critical to national growth and security.

He added that protecting the nation’s economic assets demands professionalism, intelligence-driven policing, and strategic inter-agency collaboration, as well as a morally upright and patriotic populace.

AIG Adegoke further highlighted the need for a multi-dimensional national strategy focused on:

safeguarding fiscal integrity,

preventing illicit financial flows,

securing oil and gas infrastructure,

curbing illegal mining and smuggling, and

promoting transparency in public finance.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to view the nation’s wealth as a shared trust that must be protected for future generations.

“Securing our economic future begins with every Nigerian understanding that national wealth is a shared responsibility,” he affirmed.
