My rapist died atop me, Brave Girl Kills Her Rapist in Self-Defense After Second Assault
A 16-year-old girl, Mbali Lekhuleni, recounts how she killed her rapist in self-defense using his own gun during a second assault attempt. Her shocking yet powerful story has reignited global conversations about sexual assault, survival, and women’s right to self-protection.
Sexual assault is a grave form of violence that involves any non-consensual sexual act or penetration carried out against a person’s will. Such acts are often perpetrated through physical force, coercion, abuse of power, or against individuals incapable of giving lawful consent—such as those who are unconscious, mentally impaired, or below the legal age of consent. The term rape is frequently used interchangeably with sexual assault.
Tragically, countless women and children live in constant fear, enduring sexual abuse—sometimes at the hands of people who claim to love and protect them. In many heartbreaking cases, victims remain silent out of fear of being killed by their attackers. As one survivor put it, “You’re lucky to be alive after being raped, especially when you’ve seen your attacker’s face.”
A recent viral video on social media has reignited conversations about self-defense and justice for victims of sexual assault. In the video, a young woman identified as Mbali Lekhuleni, popularly known online as Joyous Festivity, recounts how she shot and killed her attacker with his own gun during a second attempted assault when she was just 16 years old.
“I killed my attacker on the spot—he died on top of me,” Mbali says in the video.
According to her account, the man had already raped her once. When he attempted to assault her again, Mbali confronted him, saying, “You’re not going to rape me while holding a gun.” The attacker then threw the firearm across the room.
After the assault, as he turned away, Mbali reached for the gun, aimed it at him, and when he tried to fight back, she fired two shots. The second shot proved fatal. “I could hear him take his last breath,” she said, describing the harrowing moment the man fell dead on top of her.
Mbali’s story has sparked widespread debate across social media platforms, with many hailing her as a symbol of courage and resistance against sexual violence. Her experience serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers victims face and the extreme measures they sometimes must take to survive.
