The Enerhen Police Division, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, has confirmed the arrest of a young man simply identified as Ifeanyi, who reportedly butchered his father, Mr. Sunny.

According to reports, Ifeanyi slaughtered his father and made away with his money in his bid to host a birthday party for his girlfriend.

The police disclosed that hoodlum, who is kicking his heels at the Police cell, confessed that he was given a mandate by his cult group to kill his father.

Reportedly, Ifeanyi murdered his father on Thursday and fled to a hotel at OilField Road, where he was eventually arrested on Sunday.

It was learnt that the suspect targeted his father, who was asleep at night, butchered him and inflicted him with bodily injuries with his hands cut off, stole the money (proceeds of a land the father sold), and disappeared from the area.

It was gathered that the deceased cried in a loud voice for help, and was found in the pool of his own blood by his neighbours who came to his aid. However, he was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The neighbours immediately launched a full-scale manhunt to apprehend the suspect shortly after the death of his victim, up until he was caught in a hotel with two girls he lodged with, after organizing a birthday party for another, whom he said is his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, the police said the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, is yet to confirm the incident at the time of filing this report.
