LSSTF Boosts National Security With Support for Small Arms Control Centre in South West

“Lagos State Security Trust Fund strengthens national security collaboration as it supports the National Centre for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the South West.”

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced its commitment to national security by extending support to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), South West Zone, in a move aimed at strengthening coordination against the proliferation of illicit arms.

The donation was presented by the Director of Administration of LSSTF, Mr Degbola Lewis, on behalf of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ayo Ogunsan. The items were formally received by the Zonal Director of NCCSALW South West, CP Abiodun Alamutu (rtd), during a brief handover ceremony held at the LSSTF office in Alausa, Ikeja.

CP Alamutu was accompanied by members of the Centre’s management team, including ACP Ibrahim Akinniyi and Major Dasi Obanla, both Assistant Directors. The engagement served as an avenue to reaffirm collaboration between the Lagos State Government–backed security fund and federal security institutions operating within Lagos and the wider South West region.

Mr Lewis reiterated LSSTF’s unwavering support for security agencies whose operations have a direct impact on public safety and internal security. He noted that effective collaboration remains critical to sustaining peace and stability across the state and beyond.

In his response, CP Alamutu expressed appreciation to the LSSTF, describing the intervention as timely and significant, adding that it would enhance the Centre’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.

The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), is charged with coordinating national efforts to prevent, combat and eradicate the proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons through policy formulation, enforcement, research and inter-agency collaboration, in line with national and regional security objectives.
