Lagos Police Probe Mysterious Death of Two Nollywood Crew Members at Lekki Movie Set
“The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the shocking death of two Nollywood film crew members, Ekemini Imeh and Ayodeji Odediran, found lifeless inside a vehicle at a movie set in Lekki, Lagos.”
The Lagos State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the tragic death of two members of a Nollywood production crew discovered inside a parked vehicle in the Lekki area of Lagos.
The deceased were identified as Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh, a respected lighting director, and his colleague, Ayodeji Walter Odediran. Both men were reportedly part of an ongoing movie production at the time of the incident.
According to police sources, the film project was said to be directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma Akpore.
The tragic discovery was made on Saturday, February 7, within the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was reportedly being used as a filming location. The two crew members had arrived early to install lighting equipment for the production.
After completing their setup, they reportedly entered a Nissan vehicle parked on the premises to rest while awaiting further filming activities. Concern arose when repeated attempts to reach them by phone later in the day proved unsuccessful.
A source disclosed that at about 11 a.m., another crew member delivered breakfast to them inside the vehicle. At the time, the air conditioner was on and both men appeared fine. However, after production wrapped up around 8 p.m., they were found unresponsive inside the car.
Preliminary observations reportedly showed signs of distress, including foaming at the mouth, while one of the victims allegedly had bloodstains around the nose and lips.
The matter was promptly reported at the Maroko Police Station, and CCTV footage from the premises is currently under review. The bodies have been deposited at a morgue pending autopsy and toxicology examinations.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for a detailed investigation. Authorities say forensic findings will determine the exact cause of death.
Imeh, until his passing, was the Chief Executive Officer of a lighting company and was widely recognised for his contributions to major Nollywood productions, including the blockbuster movie King of Boys, as well as music videos for top Nigerian artistes such as Davido.
The development comes days after gospel musician Matthew Ogundele, popularly known as Segun Praise, and three members of his crew were reportedly found dead inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, further raising concerns within the entertainment industry.
