The apex Socio-political youth group in the South East geopolitical zone, Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL) has condemned in totality the impersonalised treatment meted out to Nnamdi Kanu today by Nigerian Security, saying that Nnamdi Azikiwe was never subjected to such torture by Colonial Masters when he got Independence for Nigeria in 1960.q1qq
In a release titled: ‘ARREST, EXTRADITION AND TORTURE OF NNAMDI KANU PLOT TO COMMIT GENOCIDE qAGAINST NDIGBO’, and made made available to newsmen in Abia State, the group who blankly stated they their sympathy was not for the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB rather for the leader who has the Igbo blood running in his veins.
The release co-signed by Hon. Goodluck Ibem and Comrade, Kanice Igwe, the President-General and Secretary-General of (COSEYL), argued that the President Mohammadu Buhari’s led administration had from inception, ‘swept under the carpet’ all manners of atrocities perpetrated by his Fulani brethren but had not hesitated in unleashing the Security Operatives on Kanu, a renowned freedom fighter.
The group reminded the federal government of how Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe fought and brought Nigerian Independence in 1960.
The group said: “Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna state prior to the 2019 general elections threatened to kill international observers, package their bodies in a bag and send them back to the United States if they dare try to stop his party from rigging elections to their favour, the Interpol and Nigerian security forces clapped for him and commended him for threatening international election observers because he is a Fulani man who has the backing of the government to kill people anyhow.”
“The colonial masters then, did not subject him to the Kind of torture and dehumanizing treatment meted out to Nnamdi Kanu today by Nigerian Security forces because it was his right to demand for the independent of Nigeria as a country.”
The group, amidst heartache urged Ndigbo worldwide to stand up for their defense, lamenting that the arrest and torture of Kanu is a depiction of the ploys of the Buhari led administration to “perfect plans to start assassinating her leaders and the people”, they said, while describing it as a plot to silent the race forever.”
