Just In: Fire Outbreak In WAEC Head Office, Many Trapped

 

 

There was pandemonium yesterday, Wednesday’s morning, in Yaba area of Lagos State as fire engulfed the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) building.

 

 

Reportedly, the said fire incident started at about 6.50 am with many people trapped in the building.

 

 

An eyewitness report has it that a staff of the Council who was perceived to have been confined in between some floors could be seen, trying to jump through the window of the 12-floor magnificent building in his bid to escape suffocation.

 

As of 7.15 am according to Vanguard,

 

The cause of the outbreak could not be ascertained as of 7.15 am.

 

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the fire broke out from the middle of the high-rise building and those trapped in the building were seen evidently calling out for assistance.

However, officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders have arrived at the scene in an attempt to put out the raging fire.
