Imo NURTW Reveals Strategies To Elevate Union To Enviable Heights

The Chairman, of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comr. Prince Ifechi Davison Okorie has reiterated his relentless commitment towards driving the union in the state to
enviable heights, through laid down strategies.

The chairman spoke in an exclusive interview with Famous Reporters, today, at his office, in Owerri, the state’s capital, noting that one of his visions for the union us to expedite actions towards acquiring a building before his departure from the office.

Comr. Davison who appealed to the government of kindly Imo state led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, explained that the issue of accommodation had had become a challenge to the union, hence the quest for a land to bring same to an end.

Prince Davison in his remarks, lamented that the Union’s activities had been drastically retarded by the congested rented apartment, as that he said, had become an uphill task.

Meanwhile, he admitted that the Governor had promised to provide the union with a land, but disclosed that same was yet to be accomplished, as he pleaded with the APC government not to relent in his promise, in order for the union to expedite their goodwill.

Account to him, by securing a permanent office space, the union would in no doubts be empowered to work more efficiently towards improving the economy of the state, as he expressed his unalloyed support for the APC led government in the state, .

“I have the dream of elevating this office to enviable heights. And my vision is to acquire a land for the union where an edifice could be erected so we can serve the state effectively.

”Where we had land before now, has been taken over by the government although the government promised to allocate a new site for the union but the promise is yet to be actualized.
Although I’m not in a haste because I’m not one who does things in a hasty manner. So, I want to give them time to get it perfectly done.

Earlier, Comr. Okorie recounted that the Governor had achieved immensely for the state within his one year in the office particularly in the aspect of social amenities, among which road rehabilitation, he said, ranked highest.

According to him, the Governor has proven himself ‘a round peg in a hole’ to the dismay of his critics, as he used the medium to congratulate Sen. Uzodinma, while enjoining him to keep the good works aglow.
