Ikwuano/Umuahia Fed Constituency: I’ll Not Let You Down, Rep. Aguocha Reassures

The member representing Ikwuano Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Obinna Aguocha has restated his commitment to bringing to his constituents dividends of democracy.

This is even as the Court of Appeal Lagos Division, today, dismissed a petition filed by Engr, Ogbonna Abariukwu’s of All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) one of his opponents, in the February 25, 2023 general election, who had challenged the victory of the Labour Party candidate.

The Court today, accused Abarikwu’s petition of “being incompetent, lacking in merit and abuse of court process.”

Similarly, the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos State had yesterday, November 3, reaffirmed Rt. Hon. Obinna Aguocha of the Labour Party, (LP), as the duly elected member representing Ikwuano Umuahia North/South, and Ikwuano Federal Constituency of Abia State.

Aguocha prided in the sufficient grace of God in his life and political career, stressing that his victory in the election and subsequently in the appellate Court is a prove that God bestows power to whoever He wills.

While dedicating his victory to his constituents, the Federal Lawmaker, acknowledged that his victory was propelled by the collective efforts and prayers of his people.

In a statement he signed with the caption: ‘RE: OUR IMMEDIATE FOCUS AND OBJECTIVE MOVING FORWARD’, the Federal Legislator wrote:

Umunne’m ndi Umuahia North, Umuahia South, and Ikwuano Federal Constituency.

1.) Today, the Court of Appeal Lagos Division has put a finality to all pending applications against my election as your representative at the Federal House of Representatives with the dismissal of the Engr, Ogbonna Abariukwu’s (APGA) petition for being incompetent, lacking in merit and abuse of court process.

2.) As we relish our resounding victory at the courts, including yesterday’s (Friday) with Chinedu Orji (PDP), let us, for the sake of brotherliness, demonstrate magnanimity in victory.

3.) What the Court of Appeal has done is an affirmation of our unanimous and broad-scale verdict duly exercised in unison with our kith and kin, umunn’anyi ndi Umuahia North, Umuahia South and Ikwuano Federal Constituency at the election polls on the 25th of February, 2023.

4.) It is not my victory alone but a collective victory borne out of our efforts and our prayers. I dedicate this victory to the good people of Umuahia North, Umuahia South, and Ikwuano Federal Constituency and, in fact, the entire Abia State.

5.) The grace of God is sufficient for us all. It is only God that gives power, and this He has now manifested in our Federal Constituency.

6.) For those who supported and voted for me immensely and have remained resolute throughout the election court proceedings, be assured that I will not let you down.

7.) For those who didn’t believe, who neither voted for nor supported us, know that I truly understand and harbour no malice in my heart. Opposition and preferences are some of the beautiful yet unavoidable elements of democracy.
In this season, there is no winner and no vanquished. It is a win-win for all of us.

8.) I promise to give you a reason to support and be a part of our vision of astute and excellent representation.
Raising the bar is a no-brainer. The focus and the objective are simple, aimed at improving the lives of our constituents, whilst attracting meaningful and sustainable human capital and development projects to our Federal Constituency.

9.) I wish to thank the judiciary for the justice done and preserved. Our belief in our judiciary has never been shaken. Our judiciary is indeed the last hope of the common man.

10.) Finally, to all my worthy compatriots who exercised their fundamental rights of expression to run for this office, I deeply appreciate all of you and your contributions. I now ask you to join me in this enormous stride of building up our Federal Constituency. I can not claim to have the capacity and strength to do it alone. I need your help and insights, too.

11.) To my leader and peoples Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, you made this candidacy, and now, a House member possible, especially when many others didn’t note my positive qualities. Thank you, Sir, for giving me the platform and space to serve my people.

12.) To my lead lawyer, Barr. Anaga Kalu Anaga Esq, whilst you are not yet of the inner temple, be assured of your place in my inner heart, a legal David. To Dr. Aham Uko, our success would have been impossible without your selfless contributions. How can I forget the untiring efforts and prayers of my immediate younger brother, Engr Nkwa Aguocha. To HE Peter Obi, the indefatigable Presidential candidate of our great party, Hon. Acho Obioma (DG State Campaigns) Chief Ceekay Igara (State Chairman Labour Party, Abia State) and Chief Leonard Ogbonna, the DG of Obi Aguocha Campaign Organisation and many others too numerous to mention, may our good God bless all of you.
