Ikwuano Set for Grand Platinum Jubilee as IDU-F Marks 70 Years, Unveils Hall of Fame
“Ikwuano LGA in Abia State is set for a grand platinum jubilee celebration as the Ikwuano Development Union – Federated marks its 70th anniversary, unveils its first Hall of Fame, and honours distinguished personality.”
The stage is set for a grand celebration as Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State rolls out the drums on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to mark the 70th anniversary of its foremost socio-cultural body, the Ikwuano Development Union – Federated (IDU-F).
Speaking ahead of the event, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Dr. Monday Ubani, SAN, described the occasion as “a platinum jubilee celebration, and Ikwuano has every reason to look back with gratitude and celebrate how far it has come.”
Dr. Ubani noted that the 70th anniversary represents “a significant milestone,” adding that IDU-F will use the event to unveil the first-ever Ikwuano Hall of Fame, during which distinguished sons and daughters who have brought honour to the community and the nation will be formally inducted.
As part of the ceremony, the Union will also perform the foundation-laying ceremony for the physical Hall of Fame complex— a legacy project expected to include an event centre, modern library, and other key facilities designed to preserve Ikwuano’s history and promote community development.
The event, scheduled to hold at Isiala, headquarters of the local government, is expected to attract an impressive lineup of prominent personalities from within and beyond Ikwuano, including friends, partners, and well-wishers.
Sources within the Central Planning Committee revealed that the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, may grace the occasion as Guest of Honour and would also be inducted as an Honorary Member of the Ikwuano Hall of Fame. However, Dr. Ubani noted that while plans are underway, “it is still too early to make an official confirmation.”
