In line with his proposed youth-oriented leadership, the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Osinachi Nwaka says his administration, under the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti, Ofr, the Governor of Abia State will not jeopardize the education of the youths.

Nwaka who described as paramount, the success of the youths of Abia to the present government, vowed to stop at nothing in his bid to ensure that no stone is left unturned in revamping and attracting monumental projects to the Council particularly at the headquarters, while advancing the lots of the youths both in education, sports and otherwise.

It would be recalled that Mayor who is also the Founder and President of New Era Foundation, (NEF), had on May 27, during the popular Children’s Day Celebration, pledged to enhance the intellectual standard of the youths of the Council thereby erecting some edifices for the growth and development of the latter.

Nwaka reiterated the need for the youths of the youths of the Council to be technologically inclined, as he promised to convert the long abandoned Council’s Customary Court to an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre.

“I’ll say it over and over again that this remains the only opportunity or one of the opportunities for every child, every boy or girl to develop in skills, in education, in arts, in anything developable. I’m here for you. No child of Ikwuano that is capable, responsible and has skills that will be identified that will not have support from us.

“So, we are not playing with education when it comes to Ikwuano. In no time at all, we shall be distributing our free textbooks and notebooks to all the schools in batches.

Continuing, he said: “We will not be playing with anything education so that why in no time at all, we shall be embarking on a project to finish and convert the Customary Court on my right hand side to ICT Centre and Skill Acquisition Centre centre.

“This is in response to the current need of the youths. Many youths need to be empowered in Website Development, Programming, social media expertise. So, we shall be converting part of those blocks to make sure that our people have the latest information technology tools.

Adding, he said: “In addition to this, His Excellency has assured me through his Commissioner for digital tools that he will be giving us 5 to 10 Computers from the State and the federal government is also giving us some computers. So, very soon, if you want to be computer inclined you can come to Isiala Local Government and be empowered”, he assured.

To this effect, Nwaka has vigorously embarked on a massive reconstruction and renovation of the Council’s Customary Court which had for over three decades, gone into extinction and is converting the same to a world standard ICT Centre, which would be adequately equipped upon completion.

A visit to the Council’s headquarters yesterday, June 12, by our Correspondent, showed that there is an ongoing massive reconstruction and renovation of glaringly dilapidated buildings and conversion of same to more educational and mind-blowing projects that would outlive generations.

This is even as Council could be seen, bustling with activities by artisans of various skills could be seen, ebuliently working towards giving the Council’s stadium a facelift and turning the same into an event Centre for the youths, while also there’s an ongoing thorough cleaning and renovation of the abandoned Customary Court building.

In a related development, the Mayor described the government of Dr. Alex Otti as “a hope to the hopeless; it’s a good thing to everybody that likes the development of Ikwuano.”

He urged the people to support the Labour Party government and have unwavering confidence in them, pledging to ensure that every of their basic needs would be ignored.

“Support this government, support the Mayor, support the deputy Mayor, support all the principal officers and have that confidence in us, we will not disappoint you.

“Having taken the mantle of leadership from 30 November, 2023, I’ve sworn to make sure that every corner of Ikwuano experiences the period of democracy. I demonstrated that at the last panel meeting by taking time to list all the pressing needs of Ikwuano to his Excellency and I got wonderful feedback from him saying, “everything you have listed on Friday shall be attended to”. That was the response from the Governor”, Nwaka concluded.
