Hon. Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, Abia State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), has officially inaugurated the organisation’s Local Government and Zonal Coordinators while commissioning its state office in Umuahia.

The event, held on Thursday, February 6, 2026, at Winners Road, Umuahia, attracted stakeholders and supporters who gathered to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Addressing the inaugurands, Barr. Nkeiru Onyejiocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, who represented Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, stated that they were installed across various local governments to serve as bridges between the government and the people.

She emphasized that their primary responsibility is upward communication from the people to the government, urging them to listen attentively to the needs of their communities and transmit such concerns appropriately to the relevant authorities.

According to her, as ambassadors, they are also expected to explain government policies to the people and serve as effective mobilisers, noting that no successful politician thrives without proper mobilisation.

“It is your duty as ambassadors to explain the various policies to the people. You must be mobilisers. No great politician succeeds without mobilisation. Use this intimate knowledge to tailor the aims and objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the people,

She encouraged them to leverage their close relationship with the grassroots to align the goals and objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda with the needs of the people, while urging them to remain creative and innovative in their duties.

Speaking during the inauguration, Ikoh described the initiative as a strategic platform designed to deepen political awareness, enhance civic participation, and promote development-oriented governance across Abia State and beyond.

According to him, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative is aimed at strengthening engagement at the grassroots level while supporting policies of the Tinubu administration focused on improving governance and public service delivery.

Ikoh noted that the inauguration marked a historic milestone for Abia State, stressing that the ambassadors would play a crucial role in mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

“Today, history is being made in Abia State. The message is clear — we have a mandate to re-elect the President,” Ikoh said, while appreciating President Tinubu and the Director-General of the organisation, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

Addressing journalists shortly after the event, Ikoh explained that the programme was designed to formally inaugurate zonal and local government coordinators and establish a functional office for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abia State.

He described the ambassadors as grassroots mobilisers committed to promoting the achievements and policies of the Tinubu administration.

Ikoh further stated that the current administration has demonstrated visible commitment to national development, pointing to improvements across key sectors of the economy and a shift from what he described as a consumption-driven economy to a production-focused one.

He also highlighted the establishment of the South East Development Commission as a landmark achievement, noting that the region had long anticipated such intervention.

The Abia RHA Coordinator added that the initiative promotes inclusivity, with youths and women playing active roles in the mobilisation drive, extending engagement efforts to the polling unit level across the state.

Ikoh expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would strengthen grassroots political participation and foster continued support for the Federal Government’s policies.

Addressing party faithful and coordinators drawn from the 184 wards across the state, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to partnering with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to deepen grassroots awareness and acceptance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and reforms.

He explained that the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between government and the people through advocacy, civic engagement, political education, and constructive dialogue, ensuring that federal government programmes are fully understood, owned, and defended at the community level.

He pointed out that the Tinubu administration inherited an unstable socio-economic landscape in May 2023, which necessitated bold reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of exchange rates. According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda, anchored on economic reform, national unity, job creation, security, infrastructure development, and poverty reduction, is already yielding measurable results.

He cited major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, Trans-Saharan Highway, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Benin-Asaba Superhighway, and the Bodo-Bonny Road, alongside approvals for a modular refinery in Abia. He also highlighted social intervention programmes like the Consumer Credit Scheme and NELFUND student loan initiative, which he noted has benefitted nearly 900,000 Nigerian students as of January 2026.
