Dr. Charles Apoki Warns Pastor Chris Okafor’s New Wife Against Expecting Change After Marriage
“Nigerian cleric Dr Charles Apoki warns Pastor Chris Okafor’s new wife, Pearl, against expecting change after marriage, as his comments spark mixed reactions across social media.”
Dr Charles Apoki, a Nigerian clergyman and international Christian conference speaker, has stirred public debate following the release of a video addressing the recent marriage of Pastor Chris Okafor to his new wife, Pearl, warning her against expecting her husband to change after marriage.
In the video, shared on his official Facebook page, Apoki reacted to Pearl’s public comments expressing her aspirations of raising children with the popular cleric. He cautioned that marriage, in itself, does not automatically alter deeply ingrained personal habits or character traits.
The cleric went further to make strong allegations against Pastor Okafor, claiming there were widespread reports of promiscuous behaviour attributed to him across different countries. According to Apoki, such alleged conduct could pose serious challenges for Pearl as she navigates married life.
He suggested that the new wife might struggle with the pressure of maintaining a positive public image of her marriage while privately dealing with what he described as difficult and uncomfortable realities.
In his words, “I can see that you have a lot of aspirations of raising children for him who would be as huge as himself. Chris Okafor will not change. From all the reports—right from the United States, from Cameroon, from all over the world—he is addicted to copulation and immorality. You are going to be battling with trying to maintain sanity at home, while also not wanting people to see you as someone who made a bad choice, and the reality of a promiscuous husband.”
In the caption accompanying the video, Apoki wrote, “An advice for Pearl, Dr Chris Okafor’s new wife: The reality of promiscuity.”
Recall that Dr Apoki had earlier criticised Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo over his role in officiating Pastor Okafor’s wedding.
He expressed disappointment and questioned the moral implications of conducting the ceremony amid what he described as unresolved allegations surrounding Okafor.
The video has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with users expressing divergent views on Apoki’s remarks, the appropriateness of addressing marital issues publicly, and the responsibilities of religious leaders in public discourse.
Reacting to the video, Facebook user Hope Joseph Joe wrote, “My brother… what kind of talk be this na?”
Another user, Okeimute Emuobosa, commented, “Dr, I hope you have not become ‘Assistant Jesus’?”
Asika Igbokwe added, “Some ladies are ready to stay in such marriages as long as there is money and affluence. She may already be aware of the reports.”
Mayaki-Obende Blessing wrote, “She no go hear. She don win jackpot.”
Similarly, Steve Paul commented, “Social media has done more harm than good. Is this how an elder should advise a newly wedded couple?”
However, Adewumi Zainab offered a contrasting view, saying, “The man may want to make this new union a wonderful experience for his wife because of all that has been said about him.”
