Halle Berry had to SHAVE daughter Nahla’s head after daily swimming left her hair ‘like matted fur’

Halle Berry has revealed she had to take drastic action after daily pool sessions during quarantine destroyed her daughter’s hair.

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on his The Tonight Show, Halle revealed 12-year-old Nahla’s hair turned into ‘matted fur’ from chlorine damage after she failed to brush it.

So bad was the damage, that Halle had no option but to shave the back of her daughter’s head.

She explained: ‘Every day we’re swimming, we get out of the pool, My daughters 12 and so every time I got to comb her hair she’s like ‘No don’t touch me, I can handle it, I’m a tween, don’t brush my hair.”

Halle shrugged, and told Fallon she let her daughter get on with it, as she was old enough to brush her own hair.

However, after weeks of daily swimming, Nahla asked her mom for help.

Halle told Fallon, who was filming from home: ‘Two nights ago, We’re doing her homework and [Nahla] goes, ‘Mom, I’m scared to tell you this, but touch the back of my head.’

‘All her hair, which is past her shoulders, has shrunken up into a tight ball that feels like matted fur. I can’t even get my finger in it, and I’m pulling and she’s screaming.’ 

Halle did her best to save her daughter’s shoulder length locks.

The two got in the shower, where Halle massaged conditioner into the matted hair. But it didn’t help, and ’30 minutes later’ it had got ‘tighter’.

Halle had to shave off the mess, and said Nahla was ‘bald at the back’.

Fallon, a father of two daughters himself, asked if she was ‘cool with that’. 

‘She was not cool with that, but it was our only option. But now she gets it,’ Halle told Fallon. ‘I was like, ‘First of all, maybe you’ll let your mother help you. And second of all, you learned you gotta brush your hair. Every day, you gotta brush your hair.’ ‘

Also during her appearance on  The Tonight Show, Halle revealed that 007 star Pierce Brosnan saved her life during filming Bond movie Die Another Day.

‘I was supposed to be all sexy, trying to seduce him with a fig, and then I end up choking on it and he had to get up and do the Heimlich,’ the 53-year-old actress revealed.

‘That was so not sexy,’ she added, laughing.

Halle added: ‘James Bond knows how to Heimlich! He was there for me, he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.’

The Heimlich maneuver is a first-aid procedure for dislodging an obstruction from a person’s windpipe by applying strong sudden pressure to the abdomen between the belly button and rib cage. 

Halle was last seen on the big screen in last year’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum opposite Keanu Reeves.

Next up will be Bruised, a drama set in the world of mixed martial arts which the actress not only stars in but also directs.

She is also attached to star in a remake of the 1985 classic Jagged Edge, which starred Jeff Bridges as an accused wife murderer and Glenn Close as the celebrated attorney he hires to convince a jury of his innocence.
