AN Apex socio-political Youth Association in the Southeast, Coalition Of Southeast Youths Leaders (COSEYL) has thrown their weight behind a former speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Dr. Asiforo Okere for the position of the Chairman of the Abia state Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
The Abia PDP had scheduled the state Congress of the party last Tuesday to produce the next state chairman of the party and her other state Executives but the event was shifted owing to the directive of National leadership of the party to cancel all party activities across the nation as a measure to check the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
In a release by COSEYL made available to journalists in Umuahia, jointly signed by her National President, Chief Goodluck Ibem and Secretary- General, Comrade Kanice lgwe, the group said “going through the curriculum Vitae and political antecedent of all the Aspirants from Ukwa federal Constituency where the party zoned the exalted position, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere is the best candidate that will take the party to a greater height.”
COSEYL said ” Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere is the best man for the Abia PDP Chairman. Okere is a man of integrity, strength of character, better mental capacity and above all he is a man with an overflowing zeal to become a blessing to the party and his people. He is a detribalized Abian who sees the entire state as his constituency “
They said ” during his tenure as the speaker and Deputy Speaker Abia state House of Assembly respectively, he was able to meritoriously pilot the affairs of the legislative chamber to the admiration of his colleagues and Abians in general. He was able to make laws that brought democracy dividends to Abians which they are enjoying today “
” As a true and loyal party man, he has never lost any election in his polling unit, ward and local government. He is a round peg in a round hole. He is a reliable man that will not disappoint the yearning, expectations and aspirations of the party ” COSEYL said.
