Abians are currently scared as outright fear of the unknown has engulfed the entire atmosphere over an envisaged eruption of dreaded Coronavirus in the state.
Saying that Abians since the return of the Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu have had their hearts in their mouths as they have been thrown into utter skepticism over the fitness of their health status and wonder what their fate would be should the situation suddenly becomes otherwise.
They argue that the Governor’s utter refusal to isolate himself in line with the FG’s self-quarantine order for Overseas returnees in a bid to contain and militate against the virus which has been ravaging the entire globe, would in no doubts leave the citizenry in jeopardy.
The terror-striken citizens, majority of whom are Governent House staff and Civil Servants, including some that are political office holders and contractors are enveloped with the fear of the unknown, as they, in their state of obfuscation, question the actions of the Governor, which allegedly endangers the lives of the citizens.
Some of residents who spoke with our reporter lamented their glaring fright as they wonder about what their fate would be peradventure there is any report from among those that work in government house who inarguably are in regular contact with the Governor, consequent on Ikpeazu’s unrestricted movements upon his return, which we gathered took from the US to Australia and subsequently back to Abuja Nigeria while some lament that Coronavirus disease is not a disease for the poor.
One of the PDP stalwart who
spoke in anonymity
said during an interaction with Famous Reporters has this to say:
” Ikpeazu should have isolated himself because he’s a leader, he’s our father but most of our leaders feel they can do anything simply because they’re in power”, he said, as he used the medium to commend the 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar whom it was gathered had subjected his son to the FG’s directives, hence the ascertainment of his son’s health status.
“He’s my principal and for that reason, I will not answer is supposed to be done to him”, he maintained, but, however, could not hide his bitterness over the negligence of the Governor.
Corroboratng, another concerned Abian regretted that “the law is for the poor only but if I am a judge, I will detain Ikpeazu in prison for one week and from there, he’ll be quarantined for disobeying the constitution.”
Earlier, an elderly statesmen in Abia, Prince BB Apugo had condemned in strong term the behaviour of the Governor which he says puts the lives of the citizenry in danger, describing it as an obvious show of lip service to the people who had confidently reelected him.
Meanwhile, Famous Reporters recalls that the Governor had briefed Journalists in the state, at Government house a day after his arrival from Australia, where it was gathered that he had gone to negotiate scholarship placements for Abia students, which is indeed in the interest of Abians.
