“The Ikwuano Development Union-Federated (IDU-F), the foremost development union in Ikwuano LGA, turns 70 this year. The Union has every reason to reflect, give thanks to God, and celebrate this Platinum Jubilee in grand style,” Dr. Ubani said.
Adding, he said:
“Marking 70 years is a remarkable achievement. This occasion will be used to unveil the first-ever Ikwuano Hall of Fame, where distinguished sons and daughters of Ikwuano who have brought honour and recognition to the community and the nation will be inducted.”
The celebration, which will take place at the Council Hall, Isiala, will also feature the foundation-laying ceremony for the physical structure of the Ikwuano Hall of Fame. The project will comprise a Hall of Fame complex, events centre, library, and other amenities, and will also serve as the permanent headquarters of IDU-F and a rallying centre for unity.
In his remarks, the President-General of IDU-F, Dr. Charles Uzondu, explained that the Hall of Fame is designed to formally recognise excellence and service.
“The Ikwuano Hall of Fame will honour sons and daughters of Ikwuano who have made significant contributions, recorded outstanding achievements, or demonstrated excellence in their various fields. Others eligible for induction are individuals who have measurably uplifted the Ikwuano community,” he stated.
Dr. Uzondu further noted that the initiative would serve as a motivation platform by acknowledging hard work, dedication, and achievement, thereby boosting morale and inspiring future generations.
Confirming details of the event, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Chief Davidson Alaribe, FCA, disclosed that HRH Eze Monday Okoro, Chairman of the Ikwuano Council of Traditional Rulers, will serve as the Royal Father of the Day.
He added:
“The Ikwuano Hall of Fame will be a one-stop centre that defines the identity of Nde Ikwuano. It will provide IDU-F with a visible and credible office address, enabling the Union to engage effectively with key stakeholders as a strong, registered, and respectable organisation.”
According to him, once completed, the Hall of Fame will attract tourism, generate revenue, stimulate local economic development, and enhance the financial independence of IDU-F.
“The project will also help curb youth dependence on politicians and political violence by offering educational programmes, exhibitions, and research opportunities,” he concluded.
