GIANT STRIDES OF DCP AKINBAYO OLASOJI, DC OPERATIONS ENUGU COMMAND, SINCE THE INCEPTION OF Ag. IGP KAYODE EGBETOKUN

Since the new leadership of Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun assumed office on 20th June 2023, fresh fire has been injected into the men and officers of the Enugu State Police Command. This is going by the massive attacks on criminal hideouts, timely arrests, and swift investigation that is currently happening there, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can reliably report.

This successful operations were led by the super-active, highly intelligent, and very disciplined Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Enugu state, DCP Akinbayo Olasoji. Noted for his tough stance against criminality and his special commitment to bringing a facelift to infrastructure in all the locations he has served, DCP Olasoji is dedicated to the policing ideals.

Since his assumption of office, it is observed that the entire Nigeria Police Force is taking cues from the IGP and is reinforcing peace and security across the country. Enugu state, among others, assuredly heaves a sigh of relief from acts that jeopardize economic growth and political stability.

Within the 3 months between June and September 2023 since IGP Egbetokun’s leadership, NAOSNP can reveal that the Police in Enugu state is decisively dealing and ruthlessly breaking the flow of crime in the state. There has been at least a score of major crackdowns on crimes and criminality by DCP Akinbayo Olasoji and his men. In descending order, the successful operations are listed thus:

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBER/CAR SNATCHER: On 15th September, 2023 at about 0930hrs. Operatives tracked one Hillary Nwodo aka Sinbad m 25 years of No. 4B Okpatu Street Emene, who escaped to Anambra State after multiple car snatching/kidnapping. In an attempt to arrest the suspect, he pulled out a knife, stabbed Inspr. Ejike Onoh, suspect was maimed and arrested. He has made useful statement

ARREST OF ARSON SUSPECT: On 13th August, 2023 at about 1000hrs, following a tip off by one Ani Gerald Ejike m of Oruku, one Oluchi Okenwa m of Aguikpa Oruku alleged to be involved in a case of arson reported on 26th December, 2022 was arrested. SCID Enugu investigating.

ARREST OF IPOB/ESN MEMEBRS: On on 12th September, 2023 at about 1145hrs, following intel received, one Odinakachukwu Emmanuel 34 years m of Amaebo in Amorji Nenwe, a member of the proscribed group IPOB/ESN was arrested. Recovered from him are Biafra currency notes and coins. Suspect confessed to being a member of ESN and participated in the killing of three (3) persons in Agbade in Nenwe on 9th September, 2023. SCID Enugu investigating.

RECOVERY OF LOCALLY MADE PISTOL: On 12th September, 2023 at about 1600hrs, a team of Safer Highway operatives along Port-Harcourt Expressway while on Stop and Search intercepted two (2) suspects, (i) Chidera Onovo and (ii). Chukwubuilem Nwowere, with a locally made pistol, fabricated plastic for consuming methy aka Mkpurumiri and charms. SCID Enugu investigating.

RECOVERY OF FIREARM:- On 12th September, 2023 at about 0010hrs, following a confessional statement of Ozioma Ezekegbo, an armed Robbery suspect, one Ifeanyi Udeh who was keeping a locally made berretta pistol for him was arrested. Gun recovered. SCID Enugu investigating.

ARREST OF ROBBERS:- On 10th September, 2023, about 0330hrs, following a distress call that some hoodlums had blocked Ede-Oballa Nsukka road with logs of Wood, claiming to be security operatives, operatives of Umabor Division hastened to the scene and arrested two (2) of the hoodlums while others fled. Two pairs of hammer and cutlasses were recovered from the suspects. SCID Enugu investigating.

COMMUNAL CLASH OVER MASQUERADE FESTIVAL PROCESSION/ MURDER/ ARREST OF SUSPECT: On 28th August, 2023 at about 1115hrs, two patrol vehicles led by operatives, deployed to maintain law and order, during a Masquerade peaceful procession came under attack at about 1600hrs on 28/08/2023. The rival village laid ambush and attacked, in total disregard to peace accord made the previous day at the Division. They fired gun shots, threw stones at the masquerade troupe, the security agencies, smashed the windscreen of Police Patrol Van, shot and wounded a yet to be identified man. One Ugwu Kenneth m who fired the gun was arrested. A Pump Action Gun with three (3) rounds of Live cartridges was recovered. Meanwhile, situation is under control.

RECOVERY OF ARMS/AMMUNITION/ARREST OF SUSPECT: On 27th August, 2023 at about 2100hrs, one Neighbourhood Watch member, Ede Maxwell m of Isu in Isi-Uzo L.G.A. reported that thieves burgled his shop and stole (3) Pump Action Guns belonging to the Neigbourhood Watch. Supol Isi-Uzo swung into action, arrested one Eze Chidiebere m of Igbo-Etiti, recovered, (i). Three Pump Action Guns (ii). Fifteen (15) Cartridges (iii). A Carter motorcycle with no Registration Number. One Odo Ifeanyi, his accomplice escaped, the suspect is suspected to be IPOB/ESN Member. Efforts in top gear to arrest the fleeing hoodlum. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS/RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM/LIVE CARTRIDGES: On 27th August, 2023, acting on a petition written by Isikwe Achi Autonomous Community, arrested the following person (i). Christian Joshua m aged 26 years (ii). Okafor Obigwuchukwu m aged 32 years (iii). Chukwu Kelechi m aged 29 years (iv). Igboamalu Nnaedozie m aged 20 years (v). Kelechi Onyekezie m aged 29 years (vi). Okechukwu Okerekwe m aged 53 years. Items recovered are (i). One Pump Action Gun (ii). One automatic stainless (iii). One Manuel (iv). Three (3) live Cartridges

RAIDS OF CRIMINAL HIDEOUT/ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST:- On 27th August , 2023, about 0224hrs, following a confessional statement of Okafor Chukwuebuka a.k.a Smart under investigation, Police operatives stormed Amodu Awkunanaw arrested (i). Onyekachi Nwobodo m 20 years (ii). Nwobodo Uchechukwu m 30 years (iii). Nwatu Ifeanyi 20 years (iv). Samuel Nnamchi m 25 years (v). Blessing Nnachi f 30 years. Following items recovered (i). Quantity of dried weed suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (ii). Planted shrubs suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (iii). Nursery Shrubs suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. At about 0345hrs operatives stormed a criminal hideout at Ugwuomu Nike and arrested ten (10) suspects. Police operatives recovered some quantity of dried weed suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Villagers of Ugwuomo in attempt to resist the arrest block the road. Operatives relentlessly fought their way out.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF SIX (6) VICTIMS: On 23rd August, 2023 at about 1630hrs, there was a kidnapping incident along Opi Ugwuogo Road by forest after the first Army Check Point from Opi, onme red Toyota Corolla vehicle, fortunately, the Commissioner of Police Enugu, Deputy Commissioner of Police-Operations Enugu, on patrol in opposite direction, Nigerian Army personnel of 82 Division Garrison arrived timely, rescued six (6) of the victims while about four (4) others were alleged to have been kidnapped by the hoodlums. Meanwhile serious effort is ongoing in collaboration with the local hunters to track down the kidnappers.

DEATH OF ARMED ROBBER/RECOVERY OF FIREARM/ AMMUNITION: On 23rd August, 2023 at about 2035hrs, one Chika Chima m age 24yrs from Osisioma Aba, Abia State was arrested at Nowas junction Trans-Ekulu Enugu State. On their way to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad Office, the suspects other gang members attacked the Police team, in the course of gun fire exchange, the suspects was fatally wounded. The following items were recovered from the scene (i). AK 47 Rifle Breach No. 0847 (ii). Four (4) rounds of AK 47 Live Ammunition. Suspect rushed to UNTH where he was confirmed dead. Corpse deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

RESCUE/ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS: On 19th August, 2023 at about 2200hrs, information received from CSO Ugwuomu that three (3) suspected kidnappers have been arrested by some security men from Ugwuomu, irate youths beat up the suspected kidnappers. Police operatives, led by Supol Abakpa, Police Special Forces mobilized to the scene, on arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the suspects have been massively beaten with various degrees of life threatening injuries. Suspects rescued, their names (i). Samson Eji from Adamawa State, age 25yrs (ii). Adul Gidah from Ginya in Adamawa State, age 25yrs (iii). Mohammed Robin from Minna Niger State, age 30yrs. Items recovered from suspects are (i). Motorcycle (ii). Four (4) phones (iii). Charms (iv). Raw Food items (v). Pictures.

RAIDS OF CRIMINAL HIDEOUT/SUSPECTED IPOB/ESN CRIMINAL ELEMENTS:- On 20th August, 2023 at about 0120hrs, following a tip off, a joint patrol comprising Police Special Force, Neigbourhood Watch Security, Police operatives from the Division embarked on raids of suspected IPOB/ESN Camp, in the process, the following persons were arrested (i). Ezenwa Ugwu m of Umuogbo-Ulo Ogrute (ii). Loveth Ugwu f of Isi Ugwu (iii). Sunday Abugu m of Mpamite (iv). Chisom Eze m (v). Chukwu Chidubem m all of Igbo-Eze North L.G.A. of Enugu State.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM/RECOVERY OF VEHICLE:- On 20th August, 2023 at about 2330hrs, one Ike Nwede m of Umunko reported that on 20th August, 2023 at about 1900hrs, four (4) male members of his town left for Enugu in a Toyota Camry Car via Forest Road, the four (4) did not arrive at the destination, phones switched off, Supol Igbo-Etiti mobilized men in conjunction with Neighbourhood Watch, patrolled along the said road. Victims vehicle found while abandoned along the road. One of the victims Mr. Ozoemena Nwodo was rescued from nearby bush at about 2359hrs. Information from him disclosed that some armed men attacked them on their way, they scattered into the forest in different directions. Search continues for possible rescue of the victims.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT:- On 24th August, 2023 at about 0230hrs,Surveillance Patrol arrested one James Akubue of No. 9 Ogbe Street Maryland, other at large while trying to rob one Charles Agu of Akpasha Akegbe Ugwu in Nkanu West L.G.A of his Toyota Car with Reg. No. LSR 904 GB, one locally made berretta pistol, Live Ammunition was recovered from the suspect. Medical form issued to the victim to go for treatment.

CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY TO WIT KIDNAPPING/ARMED ROBBERY RECOVERY/CAR SNATCHING/RECOVERY OF ARMS /CARTRIDGES:- On 20th August, 2023 at about 2000hrs, following a distress call that armed men at gun point kidnapped one Nwodo Chukwuebuka m 37yrs of age from Ugwowka Nkanu East L.G.A at Kilimanjaro Fast Food situated along Agbani Road near UBA. Operatives of the Command, led by DCP Operation- DCP. Akinbayo Olasoji, made up of Supol Awkunanaw and team, Crack Squad, Anti-Kidnapping, Flush, SWAT, Anti-Cult, IGP Special Forces in a swift reaction chased the hoodlums, who took different direction along with the victim to UNTH Ituku, turned back to Enugu, blocked at Centenary along Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway. During the a gun battle one of the criminal elements was neutralized. Others escaped with various degree of bullet wounds. The victim one Nwodo Chukwuebuka rescued. The following items were recovered (i). A Lexus Jeep-black in colour with Reg. No. LSR 433 HP (ii). One locally made single barrel gun with three (3) Live Cartridges (iv). One Expended Cartridges. Meanwhile two hundred and thirty (230) of 7.62 AK 47 Ammunition were expended in the encounter. The fatally wounded hoodlum, deposited at UNTH Mortuary.

MURDER/ARREST OF SUSPECT: On 13th August, 2023 at about 0920hrs, one Ogechi Cosmas f of Amofia Village Awgu reported that on 10th August, 2023, her biological mother Anthonia Ile f of Onoli Awgu aged sixty-five (65) was attacked inside a bush while defecating by one Nwejim Mark Umeh f of about the same age range, who accused the victim of defecating on her land. An eye witness, a palm wine tapper, confirmed that the accused gave the late victim several fist blows on the face before grabbing her throat. Victim was rescued by the palm wine tapper, rushed to Saint Anns Hospital Awgu on 10th August, 2023 and on 13th August, 2023 at about 0200hrs, she died. Scene of crime visited, corpse deposited at General hospital Mortuary Awgu for autopsy.

COMMUNAL CRISIS OVER LAND DISPUTE/ARREST OF SUSPECT: On 11th August, 2023 at about 0100hrs, armed youths from Oyofo and Awha Imezi villages in Ezeagu L.G.A., blocked the road, attacked each other. Four (4) persons were killed, five (5) motorcycles, one tricycle were burnt. Arrest has been made in both villages. Corpses evacuated to mortuary while the Police have taken full control of the area.

ARREST OF IPOB/ESN CRIMINAL ELEMENTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARMS/CARTRIDGES: On 14th August, 2023 at about 1645hrs, one Ogadimma Chukwu aka Mmiri m 24 years of Emulemoke Agbada Nenwe in Aninri L.G.A was arrested at Timber Shed Nenwe by combined team of SWAT and Special Force. Suspect admitted to be an IPOB/ESN Member, led the Police to the recovery of (i) Two (2) Pump Action Rifles (ii). One (1) double barrel rifle (iii). Locally made pistol (iv). Eighty (80) live cartridges (v). A cartridges holder. (vi). Three (3) machetes (vii). One (1) Dagger. (viii). Six (6) one Pounds Biafra Currency notes (ix). Four (4) different types of mobile phones.

RAID OF BLACK SPOTS SUSPECTED TO BE HIDEOUT OF IPOB/ESN CRIMINAL ELEMENTS:- On 14th August, 2023 at about 1300hrs, combined teams comprising Police Operatives from Igbo-Eze Division, NPF Special Forces, Neigbourhood Watch aka Strike Force raided two compounds at Nkpamute Community in Igbo-Eze North L.G.A. suspected to be hideout of nefarious gangs who specializes in snatching of motorcycle at gun point, killing, maiming, robbing innocent citizens within Igbo-Eze North and environs. Items recovered from their criminal hideout (i). One locally fabricated short double barrel pistol loaded with one live cartridges. (ii) Parts of Pump Action Gun (iii) POS Machine (iv). Some cell phones (vi) Assorted types of Charms (vi). Amulets (vii). Machetes. No suspect arrested at the scene.

MURDER/ARREST OF SUSPECT: On 7th August, 2023 at about 2030hrs, one PC Emmanuel Nkanu m of CPS Division brought to the Station a fatally injured young man claimed that himself, one of his friends by name Emmanuel Baba were driving along Murtala Mohammed Cemetery Enugu, when they saw the victim, they stopped, carried him into their car to the station, victim was rushed to Parklane hospital where he was confirmed dead and deposited in mortuary for embalmment/autopsy. The worrisome behaviour of the constable raised suspicion against him. He was traced, arrested and interrogated. He confessed to have gone on a private visit with the deceased and one Emmanuel Baba to Hiltop Ngwo, where he shot the deceased. He gave the name of the deceased as Chidiebere Okoro, a civilian Spy Staff, attached to Superior Police Officers Mess as a gardener. Scene of incident visited. No sign of struggle observed and nothing was recovered.

RELEASE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS: On 16th August, 2023 at about 2205hrs, (i). Pastor Ayuba Kuru m (ii). Pastor Chukwudi Michael m (iii). Pastor Jenyo Gbenga m, who were kidnapped on 13th August, 2023 near Community High School Obioma, (i). Chibuike Maduike m (ii). Murphy Ani m (iii), Sunday Ugoeze m who were kidnapped inside rope way Forrest Burrow Pit Obioma on 15th August, 2023. (i).Uchenna Ugwu m (ii). Agu Edward m who were kidnapped on 15th August, 2023 near community High School Obioma were released, when the kidnappers noticed the movement of security operatives within the forest through another route. Victims statements obtained.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS/MURDER:- On 14th August, 2023 at about 1700hrs, acting on information that some armed men numbering about six suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen/Kidnappers were sighted at River Akoro bridge. Supol Nimbo quickly mobilized a combined team of Police Operatives, Nigerian Army personnel of 82 Division Garrison, Neigbourhood Watch, rescued the kidnapped victims. However, the kidnappers had shot dead one yet to be identified young man, hid the corpse in the bush. Corpse deposited at Faith Foundation hospital mortuary Nsukka for Autopsy.

CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY/KIDNAPPING/RECOVERY OF CORPSE/ ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER:- On 15th August, 2023 at about 1751hrs, some kidnappers suspected to be Fulani bandits numbering about twelve (12), suddenly came out from the bush after Community High School Obioma, shot and kill (i). Architect Theophilius Madubuike Ngwu m who was driving his Toyota Highlander with Reg. No. KWL 797 BC (ii). Innocent Onuorah m a passerby who was shot and killed by the hoodlums. Two (2) other occupants of the Highlander Jeep are yet to be seen, suspected to have been kidnapped. Information further revealed that before the incident, Police operatives in conjunction with Central Neigbourhood Watch Udi, sighted one Mohammed Mohammadu m who parked his tricycle with Reg. No. UWN 114 WZ, was making call in the bush at the scene, suspected to be their informant was arrested. Hoodlums seriously engaged security agents before they escape, on arrival with reinforcement. Corpses were removed to Udi General Hospital where they were confirmed dead. Deposited at same hospital mortuary for autopsy.

DEATH OF AN ARMED ROBBER/MURDER SUSPECT: On 8th August, 2023 at about 1432hrs, one Chimaobi Joshua Nwigbo a.k.a Chiboy m arrested in a case of armed robbery/kidnapping, two (2) locally made pistols were recovered from the suspect. The Suspect led Police operatives for possible arrest of other members of his gang members and recovery of more operational weapons at the bush behind New Gariki Awkunanaw Division, Enugu. Police operatives booked at Awkunanaw Division, suspect in deceit led the Police operatives into the bush in a criminal hideout at a bush behind New Gariki Awkunanaw Enugu. Hoodlums suspected to be members of the IPOB/ESN criminal elements, on sighting the Police, opened fire on the team while the Police swiftly returned gun fire. After the exchange of firing, operatives combed the bush and found the suspect with multiple bullet injuries from hoodlums. Recovered eleven (11) expended cartridges, seventeen (17) empty shells of AK 47 Ammunition. Reported back to Awkunanaw Division, rushed the suspect/victim to UNTH Ituku/Ozalla where he was confirmed dead. Corpse deposited at UNTH Mortuary for autopsy.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS: On 7th August, 2023 at about 1705hrs, the under mentioned men at Umulungbe (i) Nwosu Ruben m (ii) Azubuike Nwosu m (iii). Ikechukwu Nwosu (iv) Onyekwelu Nwosu (v) Ede Sopuluchi, returning from a marriage ceremony at Ukehe, on getting to Umulungbe, armed hoodlums struck, kidnapped victims, Police operatives, the Nigerian Army went after the kidnappers. Victims were rescued, the vehicle with Reg. No. ENU 874 MK Lexus, ash in colour recovered. Efforts on to rescue the remaining victims

WOUNDING/RECOVERY OF FIREARM:- On 7th August, 2023 at about 1030hrs, one Raymond Edoka m of Bemil Security outfit attached to Buddies Eateries Lagos Street Independence Layout Enugu, reported that on 7th August, 2023 at about 1030hrs, one Ezekiel m of Wilforce Security Enugu, that while customers were having problems of payment after eating, made him to release gunshot that injured two (2) customers. Suspect arrested, the double barrel gun recovered. Victims are receiving treatment at Parklane hospital

ONSLAUGHT AGAINST IPOB/ESN CRIMINAL ELEMENTS/ RECOVERY OF FIREARMS/AMMUNITIONS:- On 10th August, 2023 at about 1120hrs, a joint security operation comprising the Special Forces from DOPS Enugu with Police Operatives from Igbo-Eze North embarked on co-ordinated operation against the enforcers of the illegal sit-at-home, other wanton killings within Enugu Ezike axis, camp located at Imufu Forest, in the process, three (3) suspects were killed in ensuing gun duel. Items recovered are (i) Four (4) Pump Action Guns with the following breech Nos. 19AP0017; R-3558; 20083; 122660 (ii). One Locally made Revolver pistol (iii). A fabricated pistol (iv) one Pump Action fully loaded (v) Various Amulets (vi). Army uniform with a name tag (vii) a bagco sack with sixty (60) cartridges.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF THREE VICTIMS/ARREST OF TWO (2) SUSPECTS: On 2nd August, 2023 at about 1310hrs,one Christopher Nwafor m of Ugwueme Community with phone number 08088628715 with two (2) other reported that on 1st August, 2023 at about 1930hrs, four (4) of their brothers; Ekeni Ike m, Jacob Owere m,Oluebube Nwafor m, Azubuike Oha m, while returning to Ugwueme Awgu on motorcycle were intercepted by about five (5) armed men along Awgu Ugwueme Awgu Road, dragged them into the bush at gunpoint. Three (3) of the victims were abandoned by the suspects following hot pursuit by joint team of Police Operatives, Neighbourhood Watch men. Two (2) of the suspects have been arrested. Efforts are on to rescue one Jacob Owere m who is still in custody of the suspected kidnappers.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER: On 30th July, 2023 at about 1700hrs, one Eze Emmanuel m from Ohaukwu L.G.A. of Ebonyi State, resident at one Day Meniru who specializes in using tricycle to kidnap his victims was arrested. While the principal suspects who conspired with him to commit the heinous crime still at large. The suspect was arrested following intel from one of their victims who escaped from their den in Meniru. He confessed to have committed the crime, that they were three (3) in number, namely, (i) Ikechukwu Oduma m (ii). Onwe Kelechukwu aka Bona-Boy. He further stated that, they were with two (2) guns when they kidnapped one Kenechukwu Obasi m, demanded a ransom of twenty million naira.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/KIDNAPPER: On 27th July, 2023 at about 1400hrs, one Igboagu Innocent Nzubechukwu m age 21 years was arrested in connection with the case of car Snatching and Abduction reported on 23/07/2023 at about 1400hrs. The suspect was arrested with the aid of tracking on the ground that ransom money was discovered to have been paid into his account.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF VICTIM: On 16th July, 2023 at about 2045, information received from one Nwabuisi Chinedu m of Maryland Enugu that while his sister one Nwabuisi Chimaka f was driving them in her Toyota Camry Car with Reg. No. NSK 178 EA (Spider) along Nkpokiti road Ogui, four (4) armed men suddenly double crossed them with a Lexus car, white in colour, at gun point dragged his sister out from the car, took her away in white Lexus car. After about an hour while on search with Tactical/Special Forces for the hoodlums, the victim was rescued at Ozalla by Four Corner. She narrated how the hoodlums forced her to transfer to them the total sum of forty-two thousand naira (N42,000.00), made away with her iphone-11.

DEATH OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF ARMS AND AMMUNITIONS: On 30th July, 2023 at about 1340hrs, information was received that irate mob was about to kill a suspect arrested with a locally made revolver pistol with seven (7) rounds of ammunition with assistance of Neigbourhood Watch Ihe. Supol Mbanabo mobilized to the scene. The badly beaten suspect was rescued with death threatening injuries. Suspect taken to UNTH Ituku-Ozalla for treatment. However, confirmed dead while receiving treatment. The deceased aka Junior, other names unknown, robbed one Ikechukwu Henry Akpa m of Ihe Community in his Filling Station before he was overpowered by the mob. The pistol recovered. The deceased body deposited at UNTH Ituku for autopsy.

CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY/MURDER/ARREST OF SUSPECTS: On 15th July, 2023 at about 1508hrs, one Mrs Rosemary Diribeakor f of Uluor Ndiagu reported that her husband, one Gabriel Diribeakor m aged about forty (40) years, who came to attend New Yam Festival on 9th July, 2023 got missing. She later found out that some youths of the village conspired, killed the missing man and buried him in a shallow grave in a bush behind the victims house. About four (4) suspects have been arrested with the assistance of some youths, Local Vigilante men.

RAID OF SUSPECTED CRIMINAL HIDEOUT: On 16th July, 2023 at about 2050hrs, operatives of Joint Patrol Team comprising of Uwani Division, Crack Squad, New Haven Division , Hawk, SWAT, the Joint team raided black spots within the metro. As a result about forty-nine (49) male suspects were arrested.

ARMED ROBBERY/DEATH OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER: On 16th July, 2023, based on credible information received, some criminals were intercepted at ESBS by some Mob, two suspects (i) Martins Udensi m of Achara Layout Enugu (ii). Ikechukwu Ezeigbo m of Nkponkiti by Afia Nine (9) Ogui Enugu. Police operatives moved to the scene and rescued the two (2) suspects with life threatening injuries. Items recovered are (i) One locally made pistol and two live cartridges. Due to the injuries, suspects were taken to UNTH for medical treatment. Suspects died while receiving treatment.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF VICTIMS/DAMAGED TO POLICE DECOY VEHICLES: On 19th July 2023 at about 1723hrs, distress call was received, that there was kidnapping going on along Neke-Uno Nike-Opi Road by suspected group of criminal Hoodlums. Tactical teams of SWAT, Anti-Cult, CMU, Safer High Way swiftly moved to the scene and engaged the hoodlums at Close range firing who had already held three (3) vehicles and about twelve (12) persons hostage. In the process ten (10) persons were rescued while two persons are still missing. Teams are combing the bushes for possible rescue. Meanwhile, two (2) Toyota Sienna vehicles of the Tactical teams were riddled with bullets from criminal elements.

ARREST OF APAWFU ESN/IPOB TREASUER: On 11th July, 2023 at about 1730hrs, based on reliable information, Police Operatives arrested one Monday Nonso Okafor m at his Hideout in Akpugo , Nkanu West L.G.A. of Enugu State.

ENCOUNTER WITH ARMED CRIMINAL ELEMENTS: On 7th July, 2023 at about 0535, police operatives while on early morning patrol with team, along Agbani road by One day road junction Awkunanaw, accosted armed group of IPOB/ESN criminal elements, numbering more than four (4), with AK 47 Rifles, who had snatched a Toyota Sienna , white in colour with ENTRACO inscription, Fleet No. 930. On sighting the police operatives, opened fire sporadically. On repel of the attack, one of the hoodlums neutralized on the spot, one AK 47 Rifle with nineteen rounds of 7.62 x 39 Live Ammunition suspected to have been snatched from the Police recovered. Other items recovered are (i). Chrams (ii). One (1) Cell Phone (iii). Lighter (iv). Player. Other hoodlums zoomed off with fatal bullets wounds. Vehicle riddled with bullets in the course of gun fire exchange. The hoodlums abandoned the snatched Sienna car at Mayor Market on sighting operatives of 3 PMF. Vehicle recovered and taken to Awkunanaw Police Division. In the ensuing encounter, some of the hoodlums who ran into the bush at the back of G. Edeh Station along Agbani road, prompted team from DOPS Headquarters Enugu, led by DC Operations, team from 3 PMF led by their Commanding officer, Tactical Teams, Anti-Cult, Anti-Kidnapping of the Command, in combing the bush which yielded results with recovery of additional three (3) corpses inside the bush. The owner of the snatched Sienna car, one Victor Okwor m of Amechi Uwani Awkunanaw narrated how the armed IPOB/ESN stopped him on gun point at Agbani road by One Day while heading to Holy Ghost for his business, order him to lie down on the ground, while they took over the steering.

RESCUE OPERATION OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS: On 2nd July, 2023, in continuation of the search, rescue operation of kidnapped victims from Owo in Nkanu East L.G.A., a Combined team of Tactical Units, operatives from Isi-Uzo Division and team from the Government House Enugu stormed the scene. Four (4) of the victims were rescued at Ikem Nkwo during the operation. One Inspector Louis Ezeagu of Anti-Cult Unit that was earlier missing during the operation was later found near Benue State border. The four (4) victims were taken to Parklane Teaching Hospital for treatment.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULT MEMBERS/ARMED ROBBER RECOVERY OF FIREARM/AMMUNITION: On 6th July, 2023 at about 0120 hrs, following confession of Nzejiuba Onyebuchi Victor aka OLOLO, a kidnapper/armed robbery suspect, operatives of Anti-Cult stormed Ngenevu Coal Camp Enugu, arrested one Eze Izuchukwu aka Breez m, a member of the deadly gang. Items recovered are one (1) locally made Revolver Pistol, three (3) live 0.9mm ammunition.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULT MEMBERS: On 6th July, 2023 at about 0400 hrs, following confession of Nzejiuba Onyebuchi Victor aka OLOLO, a kidnapper/armed robbery suspect, operatives of Anti-Cult Squad Enugu, stormed criminal hideout identified as Funcity in New Artisan , arrested eighteen (18) suspected cult members.

RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS/RECOVERY OF MOTORCYCLE: On 25th June, 2023 at about 0700hrs, following the Commissioner of Police Enugu directives on bush combing and rescue of kidnapped victims operations, Police operatives in conjunction with Forest Guard, the Neigbourhood Watch Security embarked on operation to rescue kidnapped victims on 24th June, 2023. Operatives combed the bush suspected to be the hideout of the kidnappers at Etta. The team encountered the hoodlums who opened fire on the operatives which was resisted. Consequently upon, the following victims were rescued (i). Hassana Omaye f (ii). ChukwuEmeka Theophilous (iii). Nkwocha Ifunaya f (iv). Ugwu Solomon m.

KIDNAPPING/RESCUE OF TWO VICTIMS: On 25th June, 2023 at about 1755hrs, based on a distress call, a combine teams of Police operatives , the Military, Forest Guard, Neighbourhood Watch mobilized to the scene. It was discovered that one ChukwuEmeka Uchenna m of Orlu, Imo State, owner of one black Toyota Corolla car, travelling from Onitsha to Nsukka with wife and child were kidnapped by seven (7) armed men at Adani- Opanda road by Ngene Ukwu in Uzo-Uwani L.G.A. The combined team was able to rescue the wife and child.

ARREST OF CHILDREN SUSPECTED TO BE CULTIST: On 23rd June, 2023 at about 1625 hrs, fifteen (15) children of Comprehensive Secondary School Akwuke aged between thirteen (13) to sixteen (16) were arrested, following a distress call by the principal of the school, one Mrs. Ani Grace Chinyere f that some students of the school who were in their final year WAEC Examination came to the hall with extra clothes during and after the examination. Some students formed themselves into cult groups distorting the examination and holding the principal hostage. Consequently, Police operatives swiftly moved to the school where they arrested the suspects. During the course of the arrest, the suspects threw stones on the patrol vehicle and injured one Inspector Rita Dominic. Meanwhile the inspector is in stable condition. Patrol intensified around the school while efforts are on to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects.

RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM/AMMUNITION: On 20th June, 2023 at about 0720hrs, Police operatives while on stop and Search duty along Ugwuomu Community road, stopped a motorcycle with a passenger. On searching, the operatives discovered that a disabled passenger named Edeh Longinus m of Ohuani Owo in Nkanu East with workshop at Amanwu town Nkalagu Ebonyi State, was carrying two (2) polythene bags containing (i) Two (2) Locally made guns (ii). Two (2) other tools.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER/ATTACK ON POLICE OFFICER: On 19th June, 2023 at about 1820hrs, Police operatives arrested one suspected notourious kidnapper, Aminu Jubril m 25yrs old, native of Zaria in Kaduna State. Suspect was arrested at Garki Cattle market, Awkunanaw. The suspect injured one operative, Inspector Barde Isifanus on his right hand with his dagger in a bid to resist arrest.
