Fire Guts Section Of NSCDC Lagos Command Storage Facility
*As fire service intervenes

A fire incident was reported today Saturday, 13th May, 2023 at about 03:30hrs on the storage facility of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command’s Headquarters. National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP gathered that the Corp’s officers and men on duty at the time were shocked by an unpalatable sound traced to a meagre section of the storage facility, where a few exhibits stored in kegs are usually kept. The unpalatable sound turned out to be a fire outbreak, which engulfed the storage section housing some few exhibits recovered by the command, through various operational activities.

On getting to know about this ugly incident, the NSCDC Lagos State Commandant, CC Usman Ishaq Alfadarai immediately leveraged on the synergy between the Corps and the Lagos State Fire Service who responded in a jiffy to assist the disaster management unit and the Command’s personnel on duty to put out the fire and bring the situation under absolute control without further delay.

The statement by the NSCDC Lagos PRO, DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun added: ‘While responding to the ugly incident at the State Command’s Headquarters, Commandant UI Alfadarai, who arrived at the scene, within a short time of notice, said, “the command will unravel the cause of the fire outbreak, but it was important to extol the commitment of the Corps’ personnel on duty and the unquantifiable support of the Lagos State Fire Serve in putting the sudden outbreak under total control, with the professional zeal to ensuring the safety of lives and property and protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure around the section, where the outbreak occured, such as galaxy, access bank and other government facilities, which remain a top priority of our Core mandates.”

‘No casualty was recorded because of the unprecedented response aforementioned above apart from the ugly colouration of the storage section caused due to the fire incident. Notwithstanding, the Lagos State Commandant has also promised to ensure a total repair and rehabilitation of the engulfed storage facility and build better one with all modern safety facilities within a very short time’, Abolurin informed NAOSNP.
