A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Abia State chapter, has lauded the obvious resolute as displayed recently by the Member Respresenting Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, hence dissociation from the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).
Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, a former frontline member of the PDP, while speaking with Famous Reporters at his Ahuwa Oboro country home, maintained that the recent, recurrent defection of the party’s bigwigs to APC was a glaring proof of an alleged extinction of the ruling party in the state.
Ikoh, in his ecstatic mood, congratulated Onuigbo, saying “Sam who is representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency has finally left PDP because he has seen what I saw”, he said, pointing out that only the APC party, which is a national party can pave the way for the emergence of the long awaited 2023 Igbo presidency, as he enjoined the state in general to embrace the party.
“I feel very happy that my brother and friend has decided to join us in this National party, All Progressives Congress, APC and now we shall play national politics. Few months back when I was leaving the PDP, I told both APC and PDP members that PDP was dead in Ikwuano and it’s only natural that the state should see wisdom in identifying with a national party. Because, having gone to the North t for two terms, it’s natural that the next presidency goes to the South and it’s only APC that can guarantee that.”
Chief Sam OnuigboContinuing, he said: “To me, PDP is like one-man business. It’s like a business that someone stays at his house and decides what will happen but democracy is beyond that.”
Furthermore, he regretted that
the essence of one delving into politics which according to him, is to make better the lives of the masses had over the years, been relegated to the background, as he harped the need for the resuscitation of the true spirit of democracy.
“The major reason of joining politics is for us to better the lives of our people and how better can we better the lives of the people of we don’t play the national politics. Onuigbo as a Federal House Member has left PDP for APC; it’s a very wonderful development. I’m so happy that he has done that and I believe that many more people will also join. This is just the beginning. I gladly welcome Onuigbo into the party. It’s a large family.”
Speaking further, he said that Onuigbo’s departure from PDP signified repentance from one’s old, negative way of life, insisting that the latter is currently a new creature.
“There is nothing negative when you turn to live a new life. You’re watched, you are born again. There’s no negativity in him again. He’s born again.
And now he has joined the national party, it is expected that he attracts meaningful projects that would trigger development in the area”, he advised.
