Encomiums flow, as Abia Monarch confers Chieftaincy title on Prof. Gregory

HRM Eze Eberechi Dick, the traditional ruler, Mgboko Amaise autonomous community in Obingwa local government area of Abia State has conferred on the
Chancellor, Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, Prof. Gregory Ibe
a Chieftaincy title of “Uri Chi Dere” of Mgboko, in Amaise autonomous community.

The immediate past chairman of Abia State council of traditional rulers and the traditional ruler, who eulogised the renowned professor during the ‘Iri Ji’ festival of his Mgboko community, recounted on the latter’s innumerable contributions to the growth and development of the State.

Expressing his hearty gratitude, Eze Dick thanked God Almighty for the gift of a worthy son as Prof. Ibe to the State, as prayed for more of God’s amazing benefits upon the latter for more exploits.

He applauded the University Don for awarding yet another stream of 94 slots of scholarships; four (4) per LGA to Abia indigenes plus 26 slots for indigent ones drawn from the 17 local areas in various fields of study including Medicine and Surgery which ordinarily will cost parents a fortune.

It will be recalled that last year alone, one hundred (100) scholarships were awarded and over three hundred and fifty (350) students are on scholarship awards since the inception of the scheme.

While receiving the Chieftaincy title, Prof. Gregory Ibe, represented by the Chairman Abia Crusaders Foundation; Prince Emeka Okafor who was accompanied by members of the steering committee, Abia Crusaders Foundation , appreciated the honour done him and dedicated the title of ‘Uri Chi Dere” to Abia Youths.
