The widow of the late Emmanuel Nwaneniya, Lucy Nwaneniya, has recounted the heartbreaking events leading to her husband’s death, alleging that he was deceived into visiting a location under the guise of inspecting land for sale before he was killed.
Speaking during an interview aired on Arise News on Sunday, August 2, 2026, Lucy said her husband had informed her that he was meeting individuals who wanted to sell him a plot of land. According to her, discussions about the property had already taken place before the scheduled meeting.
She explained that before leaving home, Emmanuel assured her he would return in time to eat the meal she was preparing.
However, events took a tragic turn.
When the food was ready, Lucy said she repeatedly called her husband to inform him, but he did not answer. Instead, his phone line remained constantly engaged.
As concern turned into fear, she decided to go to the location herself to find out what had happened.
Recounting the painful experience, she said:
“On May 24, they called him to come and buy land. He had spoken with them before that date. He told me he would come back to eat.
When I called to say the food was ready, he didn’t answer. His phone was constantly engaged. So I went there to find out what was happening—and I found his body.”
Lucy described the discovery as the most devastating moment of her life, saying her fears grew when her husband failed to return home as promised.
According to her, what was expected to be a routine land inspection ended in tragedy, leaving their family devastated and searching for answers.
Meanwhile, authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding Emmanuel Nwaneniya’s death. Investigators are yet to publicly announce the outcome of the inquiry or disclose further details about possible suspects.
